Hi Katja Ulbert ,

H.O.T. project is a good way for to sustain this goal… Personally, I have discover this project recently and equally participated of several Nepal “actions” throughout Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team. But in the same time after the Nepal earthquake and those who are contributed, I remarked the weak of knowledge of certain “new” contributors” about this project and OpenStreetMap and the result and interpretation on the map…

Have a nice week.

Conflation engine Cygnus now in public beta

Nice work and rendering on this map: “f4map” however and unfortunately this map isn’t fully “free” it’s “copyrighted”

Location based alerts for FIXMEs or specified objects

Why don’t you use “note” tag anymore, simply?

Osmgeoweek celebrations in Bengaluru!

Hi jinalfoflia,

Nice “work”! I mapped Nepal early this year after the main “earthquake” and several “towns” and villages throughout this country and near India border. In the same time, few stuff in India. I had remarked, in this occasion, they is a lot of road and other things who are “missing” in India… so you have the “choice” for mapping your Country. However and it’s the “actuality”, they exist bad “persons” in this word, unfortunately, and it isn’t new. So we must do a particular “care” with what we “mapping”. But I don’t think, those “persons” need a map like “OpenStreetMap” for to commit the “irreparable”… But I’m sure, you know what I mind, what I think. And those “persons” are more numberus in some part of this “world”… Sure our work, all contributors of OpenStreetMap are “checked”, but we don’t need to map a lot, if we don’t need it… It’s really true in certain “area” of this “world”. Of course” OpenStreepMap aren’t the only map who exist who each other can brought his own “detail”… but this the only Map who we can use “fully” “free”. Have a nice week and enjoy yourself or with your own community in a “mapping party” for example.

Fast OpenStreetMap micro tasking with To-Fix and JOSM

Hi Rub21,

Your plugin seems “useful”, however, after downloading it and restated JOSM, something wrong have appeared the software freeze… Take an eye in your code line, everybody do mistakes…

Growing our community through networks

Hi lxbarth,

I thing the first thing who the new users must “know”, learn, it’s the “wiki”, simply read the “beginners guide”. Learn the guide of the software used: “Potlatch, ID” for all newbies. And understand the “goal” of this project… As you know, it isn’t a simple map, and the possibilities of use is wide. I like it, because it’s based of Open Sources “spirit” and that “great”! Everybody can add his own knowledge of an area, town, city, “forest”… his “mountain bike track… information where is located his “bakery”, for example, with all informations we need to know: “address, phone number, opening hours”… That is for a “place” you know. However, nothing prevent you to map a city far away your home, where you never go. You must only take more “precautions” and take your time…

They exist a multiple “use”, but the main use is liked we our “century”, is “on air”. And you know that trouble in USA: “climate change”, and not only and his aftermath, on all of us: “yesterday, today, TOMORROW”!

Throughout this great project I use several “path” for to map an “area”: “Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team project, Missing Map project, both are necessary… You know now perfectly who is the responsible of “climate change”: “the human” activities… we haven’t all the same impact and consequences, however, we have all our part of the “scheduled disasters”! We pay all the bill and we will endure the consequences, it’s just the beginning, they exist a certain “inertia affect”!…

I take a particular attention for to work on map “carefully”, because I know the abilities, the “capacities” of this project.

Have a nice end of week.

Ce qui serait mas mal, c’est que les “informaticiens” d’Open Street Map, ajoute quelques lignes de code supplémentaire pour nous permettre, par exemple, de corriger nos fautes d’orthographe sur un poste, ultérieurement…

The Flash Map Mob

All ideas are welcome for to “attract” new future “contributors”. When you ride throughout a town or city with a team or alone, don’t forget to take a maximum of informations we need in OSM for to have a map more “dynamic” and useful. This his below a picture with several tag we can use on an element like a building:

http://imgur.com/5cWoKQO

And an other example below of map we can use for to see “quickly” what shop or restaurants… are open or not (concerning the key tag: “opening_hours”):

http://openingh.openstreetmap.de/?zoom=12&lat=40.75151&lon=-111.86471&layers=B0T&filter=none&tags=opening_hours

Have a nice week and: “future mapping party” or: “Flash Map Mob” ‘-)

Position Statement: OSM US Board

“I am excited to learn more and expand my knowledge”, great that a nice goal.

Hi, DrishT,

Your “ambitious, I see, Missing map project is good for those who want help a community growth. I had learned alone, OSM and I find that “great”. When somebody look for the first time the map in his basic layer, he can’t think, that is a joke and a waste of time… nothing of that! In fact, when you learn more about this project, map a lot of places and in the same time improve your knowledge, perform your skill, effectively you want learn more and more. Because it isn’t a simple map or a simple “project”. I have heard about this project since his beginning, but I was young with others “preoccupations”. I really discovered it and start to map in 2012, after to have discovered a lot of interesting things in the same “spirit”, all project linked by Open Sources… I had started “slowly”, and getting to make a map in my country in the begging, it was easier and I had less “apprehension”. I had continue to improve my knowledge and learning more about several sectors… Like my “English”, I learn “alone”… I had learned alone the software who everybody must use in OSM for mapping: “JOSM”, the best tolls for to map correctly, faster. However, it isn’t for the beginners. If you don’t know what is a node, a way a tag, a relation and haven’t acquire enough skill, you must use a software in line throughout your web brother, like: “Potlatch, ID (the latest based in Html5). It’s just recently who I have discovered Missing Map project and of course: “Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team” projects. And I’m very interesting about all around that, because now, I know the “power” of the project, of the “map”. I recognise the work of all who had or contribute to make this project a reality, work on all software and perform it continuously for to improve and make more easer the work of all OSM contributors. Of course the community is “growing”, however they exist not enough active contributors and not enough contributors with all skill we looking for… you know we must spent a part of our time for to represent an “area” and more when this his a place where you never go… It’s take a time and before all thing we must learn the: “how to”, the wiki. And like our universe, this project is continuously in “expansion”. It isn’t a “game”, you can use it with children like this for to emerge news “hobby”. However they must acquire all skill required before to do “alone”… Effectively, it’s certainly not a “game”, they exist a lot of wars zone around the world with dramatic aftermath… and all natural, or not, disasters will be amplified with the consequences of: “Climate Change”!! For this last point we are only in the beginning… and probably for a long time if we are enable to fix all rules we need for to maintain the temperature grow under 2C°… OSM and his contributers can improve rescue intervention, faster, cheaper… however for to get this and make it a reality, we must “react” more quickly when some thing wrong appear. And for that, the community must be: “formed”!

Have a nice week.

OSM US Board Election Position Statement 2015

That “good”! When somebody look at a map throughout OpenStreeMap, he can thought that “funny”, not really serious and it’s a waste of time… however, when you improve your knowledge about this project you can’t close your eyes and obviously we recognize the work of the funders of this project. All man et women who are contributed to make it a “reality”, the work of engineers, computer scientists who continue to work to the improvement of software like: “ID (for html pages), JOSM for most popular and powerful tools for to work correctly!

I have discovered Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team “recently”, I bring in to it my own contribution. I have learned all “himself”, alone… I recognize the “WORK” I RESPECT this project! The life are magic and wonderful, however, it isn’t easy each days, for all of us and we do all to much “mistakes”. We are unable to take some crucial “decision” in the right time for several “reasons”. But in the interest of the humanity and the future of our children we have interest to “work” all together… The Climate change it’s all except a jock, the CO2 growth, a planet most warm will have a lot of consequences in our days life… it’s time to change our behaviors! It’s time to CHANGE!

I’m a contributor of OpenStreeMap, I work on Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team and I know perfectly WHY!…

I love the life, I’m afraid about the human stupidity, if we stay blind about climate change, if we are unable to fix the adequate “rules” for the fight against the: “greenhouse affect”! I request everyone to do the maximum for to make the next meeting in PARIS in December: “THE ANSWER WHO NEED THE WORLD AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE”. For the children, for all of us. I “invite” everybody who have enough “skill” to collaborate white Humanitarian OpenSteetmap Team.

Have a nice week-end.

Salutation.

PS: votre lien concernant le reportage audio semble “corrompu”…

Second Attempt at OSM

Sorry I do a mistake with highway=footway, but you can see the specification here:

osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dfootway

Second Attempt at OSM

Hi Enxsjp,

The first thing you must do it’s to read the beginners’guide link below:

osm.wiki/Beginners%27_guide

And follow the instructions here:

http://learnosm.org/en/

However, you must take a particular attention, between highway=path and highway=footway. Because all beginners and not only, do to often the “same mistakes”. An highway=footway is mainly used for urban paths designated for pedestrians only, a “car” can go on it, but the pedestrian have the priority. A highway=path a car can’t go on it! And a last point concern highway=track, this tag represents roads for mostly agricultural use, forest tracks etc… All information you need are in the map features.

Enjoy yourself.

Belgian Mapper of the Month: Pierre Parmentier

Bonjours escada,

However, one more time, when we have the competences for that (if we are an adult), we have the obligation to do that “correctly” we have several forensic tools for that… Everybody do a mistake, but, everybody can repairs the mistake of the other, that the “Force side” of this project. I have no reel purpose, except improve “the map”, I give no money for that, but I like it. As you know that, certainly, the money do not the “happiness”, nevertheless we need money if we want to live in this “dangerous world”. The human race have his JEDI SIDE and in the same time, THE DARK SIDE….

Happy mapping project.

P.S.: everybody have the right to improve the work of the other, but nobody have the right to destroy the work of the other, this is available in a “computer scientist”… You know, where I live.

Amphiteatre

Hi pizzaiolo, Hi Brazil, Thanks alote for this “good” answer an suggestion, I Hope all teams OSM headquarters will validate this: “theatre:type=amphi” in nearest future. I keep this tag. Good idea, thanks again for your answer, have a nice week end.

Turn lane (how to)

Ok, finally I will deleted the “placement” key as soon as possible. Best regard to all.

Turn lane (how to)

Hi gileri, thanks for this information who can help the persons who start mapping and not only, the community of OSM, all contributors of this project.

Turn lane (how to)

Hi escada, I’m glad to have a follower with an interesting answer. This is what I think: “in this country “France” we driving on the right side of the road. If we want to turn left, so, we must stay on the left side. Probably you’re right, however I prefer to keep this tag on the road. The key: “placement” is a proposed key, so isn’t really important at this time in OSM project. But the key lanes and turn are “important” for a good understanding, rendering on the map (for to have a nice map). OSM project is very interesting and we must take care of it for the respect of his “designers”… Thanks for your answer, your help. Have a nice week.

traffic_calming and lanes key tag

I’m sorry but some time a traffic calming is a little bit more broad, in this case, it’s not a trunk or motorway…

Kiln not seen(rendered) in OpenStreetMap

Hello Nepal, Hi MeghaShrestha,

Thanks for this interesting links and website. We must change if we want enough time for to built our future… and this, in all “sector”… Have a nice week.
