What drives me?

…“intrinsic desire to make the world a better place.”… So, you’re welcome on this project! As you can to believe we need “help”, because the work is huge… We must to improve this map and his “reliability”! So, the first rule is: “take enough time” and don’t try to go to fast!… We have only one guide, free for use and open to everyone: “the wiki”! We have all been a newbie, but we haven’t all been “good”… if you’re “honest” and have enough will and share the same vision of any contributors: “to go forward”, so, you will be able to stay a long time… As you know so much in Germany or elsewhere, for example we endorse and we will endorse all the: “climate change”! Maybe to map “correctly” all town and city localised near a river will be not a bad “thing”!… But this project: “OSM” isn’t yet only one project and there is lot of other “purpose”… So enjoy yourself, but don’t forget: “it isn’t a game”.

2000

Thanks everyone, I’m proud to reach this threshold! But you know, the work is far to be “ended”! But now, I work a lot through humanitarians projects like: “Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team and Missing Map”… those projects are useful for Doctor’s without borders, Red Cross, various ONG… We need to reduce the cost, all gathered together on the same goals, for our future, the future of the humanity, the future of all children… It’s will be possible, it’s a question of will!

But sometime, I do something different somewhere and some time I map my “own” country!

Mapped in Every Country of the World

Hi mmahmud ,

Nice goal! I have do a part only ‘-) , I work especially on projects like Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team & Missing Map… and some time I do other stuff and improvement. Thanks for all links

My talk for State of the Map 2016: Building large-scale crowdsourcing communities with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team

I congratulate your work. I don’t know if I understand all correctly, but apparently we are not “enough” (too much, I don’t think if it will be better…)… I think your research are very clear for me and I’m regret to make a simple “note”. At this time, I finishing to read your “report”. I regret, because, I recognise your work, of course and I find those projects very interesting and “personally” I know why. If you have the time to see my “actual” profile, you will be able to understand one part of my motivation.

My talk for State of the Map 2016: Building large-scale crowdsourcing communities with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team

Hi Martin,

Good work! As we know all to work on those projects, it’s take time… This is why there is a lot “newcomers”, not enough “formed” and haven’t all time the will for to acquire all skill needed… they have, maybe other “hobby”, occupations in the real life. it’s a pity! When someone take enough time for to learn about those projects: OpenStreetMap, Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, Missing Map… so he’s able to understand how it’s very interesting, how it’s important and “why”!… How it’s very “REWARDING” for all! Throughout your “reports” we have the proof, a new time, than we haven’t sufficiency “newcomers” who begin “regular” in the time… It’s sad, of course but we mustn’t be “discouraged” for that point! Why: “ http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/ “. In the end of November 2016 we are nearby “7500000000” humans on planet Earth! Inside this incredible number, who continuously to grow like the CO2 in our atmosphere until an certain threshold… there is lot of humans who have the “luck” to live in a flat (Why the luck because some others live in houses?! They have , fortunately, a ROOF!…). And often, but not all time an Internet access! And for this point, the lack of Internet access around the world, will be solved in the not so far future… As you know, as researcher, we haven’t all time “troubles” we have equally lot of “solutions” and WILL to change the world where we living all toward the better way. It’s all together, gathering throughout same projects we will be able to change the world where we living all! And we must change lot of THINGS!

P.S.: Excuse me, for my “incorrect English”, but I’m unfortunately not a “seeker” or something like that. I’m just, autodidact!

Mapping Torre Annunziata

Hi doktorpixel14,

Nice work, congratulation for this, nobody need to touch it any more, just for add new stuff. All contributors know how it take a time for mapping just a town, city. One more time, congratulation.

Have a nice week-end.

Updating your changeset source comment easily using imagery layers in JOSM

Hi, PlaneMad,

Thank you, I work on this project, because I like it, I find it useful and I know a lot of “teams” have enough will for to “try” to change this world in the right “direction”… unfortunately, in the same time I know the “opposite”. Because we are human, we are capable to do a great things and in the same time, to much “bad things”… This is my point of view and I’m very sad to be an “human”. Yes, I like this project, I know you have a lot of purview and it’s the same for a lot of kind persons, I like to see the growth of improvement of this project and lot of softwares like Josm and those who have the same “spirit”.

Have a nice week on this planet where lot of peoples try to “improve”, however, it isn’t win, we have a huge work in front of us.

How to draw the buildings in ID editor

@ BushmanK

Hi, the target of this post it’s for those who edit (or try to edit), newbie or not and never read the beginner’s guide before to start… too many houses are badly represented especially throughout projects like “humanitarian”… so if I do a post, it’s because I have a lot of reasons for that. If you read the wiki you can see how it’s important to indicate his “sources”… However it’s true, often “Bing” are automatically included, but all sources aren’t Bing imagery…

Thanks for your understanding, have a nice week.

@lutz : Hi lutz, I don’t understand “german”, you must go where? USA? So, your “lucky”… For Christmas and several “reasons” I was “alone” one more time… I’m unlucky, sad…

Mapping in Thailand - trees and other things

Hi AlaskaDave,

First, your welcome it was interesting, trees are essential. Now, concerning U.S. a lot of thing are underway but it’s not enough… “many people simply don’t believe climate change is real or that human activities are affecting the climate” It’s not only the case over there… and those who think that are “wrong”! Do you think NASA have a lot of incompetences “engineers” in his rank?… I don’t know you, but with what I saw you have the luck to have more skills than me. “The political system in the U.S. is seriously broken” seriously?… :-O $$ (some of them try to do the best…) Sure the work his huge for to change toward a better world and prepare the future for the next generation and children. If everybody stay blind in his own corner we must be prepared for more “conflicts”… all you say can be found “everywhere” and all about “troubles” are exactly the same everywhere on this planet. So, it’s a question of humans BEHAVIOURS… We are on the path of the change, but nothing is new and the aftermath are already there… Nothing are “new” that the real problem and if you have the enough financial resources, that not the case for all and it’s worse elsewhere. But you know that perfectly, be cause you have the luck to “travel”… “travel” interesting word, there exist a CO2 mark when we “travel” and not only in this case. We must think differently and review our own “behaviours” if we want to survive… so if many people believe that they aren’t informed correctly. In USA like my own country, we have the right to think until it was “over”…

Have a nice end of week

Mapping in Thailand - trees and other things

That the prove! We do all mistakes, thanks for the link! I presume you have the same spirit?

Mapping in Thailand - trees and other things

Hi AlaskaDave,

“I used to write in this blog more often but I just don’t seem to have the time anymore. Ridiculous, I know. Those of you still working know how precious personal time is and you might think a retiree has nothing but time on his hands. But between tennis, a relationship, motorcycling and mapping” ****************************************** So you’re a busy persons with nice hobbies! And certainly a “kind person” if you work on this project. I saw your blog, climate change due to human activities is one of our main troubles, personally I know the “aftermath”… We have a huge work in front of us for to improve this world. the first thing we must do it’s to change our “behaviors”, it’s will be the cheaper “gesture”. The climate change and his consequences will have an enormous cost… so we must try to reduce the cost and the “damage” by different ways… we are all concerned, we are all humans and we live all in the same planet nowadays. It’s will not always the case, but like OpenStreetMap project, it’s take a time… the OpenStreetmap project will be “fully” when the human will be able to conquest the space… and we need to pursue this “goal”, the space program despite the COAST, for several reasons. Trees on planet earth are vital functions and not only trees! Take care about our environment, it’s take care about our own health, life, future… We must learn about our “mistakes” and we do all! It’s not always so easy, but the education system is “here” for that! We can learn and improve ourself “alone”, but it’s not the “easy way”… and the education itself can solve all “troubles” and some time it create his opposite. And this “opposite” want to destroy this system, his values, take of the FREEDOM! So, we aren’t in fight only against climate change, but equally in fight against those who doesn’t want to hear anythings!… Yes we have a huge work in front of us and yes it’s will not easy. Your mapping “trees” and other things, good job. We must do the same in the “reality”: “plant trees” and do a lot of things for to improve this world, for the sustainability of the human being, for us, for the “children”.

We must change all together!

(personally I use a simple “meter” for to measure something… unfortunately for me, I haven’t all skills you have…) :-( (and I haven’t GPS, so I’m unlucky?!) ‘-)

Townlands.ie disk problem has broken data updates.

Hi rorym,

The server that Townlands.ie is no longer has enough disk space to import new townlands data ***************************************** So your community work too much! ‘-)

Great work I saw the result:

http://www.townlands.ie

Have a good continuations and mapping party. Enjoy yourself and all kind persons…

Have a nice week.

A Mapper in the Spotlight: Lutz Lange (Germany)

Hi escada,

Thanks for the “translation”. Effectively it’s a “great interview”, but not only. It’s a great project, great map, great goal… great contributors equally when those contributors take care about them own work and respect the work of the other and… the goal of this project. ***************************************** To conclude, is there anything else you want to mention ??

Do not take yourself and your OpenStreetMap hobby too seriously, because actually we’re all just farts in the wind. ***************************************** Good question, interesting answer.

However and it’s my point of view, several project work around OpenStreepMap, like: “Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, Missing Map project… It’s will be useful for the community, and not only, for those who endure and will endure the effect of “climate change”… those who endure too often the barbarities around the world! However, and it isn’t the weak, those map can be used by those persons (the extremists!!!!)! So when you work on the project like yours: “Historic places map”, that great! But when we work all on other project, unfortunately, we must be conscious we live all on the same planet we have huge work in front of us, not only on this project, but on all project for to improve the human being, his behaviors, ideas… we aren’t one nation but we are one WORLD! We have the obligation to prepare the world of tomorrow for the children for the sustainability of the humanity. And we must be conscious there exist the opposite of our philosophy, of the “democracy” of the FREEDOM! We are in “fight” against climate change, but not only… and it’s far to be the end. But all together we can improve the world, it’s will be not easy, it’s will be long. We must change a lot of thing, in the beginning and the “cheaper” our own behaviors, in, the interest of all of us. Christmas 2015 is coming soon, I’m alone all Christmas since too long time, because the human stupidities and his stupid “jokes”. Nobody’s perfect, but we have the life for to improve ourself a little bit each days and the human life are very short than the rest of the universe… We have all “skills” in our luggages, we mustn’t use it for to “humiliate” somebody or take the life!… Computer scientist you have a lot of abilities, but don’t us it for to mocking somebody, because it’s all, except “funny”… We have a huge work in front of us for to improve this world and in the same time the human have the abilities to disappear this “planet” and this planet have a name: “Planet Earth” and a nickname: “BLUE PLANET”!

The planet where the life appeared a day… So for a mapping party on: “planet Mars”, we must be patient and we have the obligation to prepare the future of the next generations, for us, the children.

This is a great project, but we must fix the “priorities”, one this project and in the rest of our “day life”. I repeat, nobody’s perfect because we are “HUMANS”!

Personally, I prefer to love the life and the “women” than to “take the life” rape the WOMEN! And I love the TRUTH and the “fidelity”…

Osmgeoweek celebrations in Bengaluru!

Everybody do “mistakes” that the “proof”! I would like to say: “You’re welcome”.

Osmgeoweek celebrations in Bengaluru!

@jinalfoflia

Welcome, unfortunately for me I haven’t all skill you have, but I try to do my best when I do something… and I know “PERFECTLY” the world where we living all… So I wish you a nice “continuation” on the nice project like this in the “peace world”…

have a nice week.

HOT Voting Member Nomination

hi Katja,

Thanks for your answer, effectively working on both OSM project and HOT take a time… all contributors haven’t a “time” for to read the “WIKI”… this “explain” that… We aren’t all a “worker” of OSM… but lot of of us are “volunteer”. For the last point, I would like to “meet” the “organizers”, before to subscribe of anything… and the last point, unfortunately for me, I haven’t all skill you have… But I know perfectly the world where we living all of us, I love the life, but I’m very sad since too long time for several “reasons”… I wish you a very nice week and “life” as you could have”…

Data and community in the Belgian regions

Hi joost schouppe,

Effectively, it’s a “great work”, congratulation for all contributors. OSM project is a nice project and nice purview… We do all mistakes each day… the majority of OSM contributors know the kind goal of this project. However, we live all in the “dangerous world” and it’s could be worse if we haven’t able to change more “quickly”…. all troubles linked by “climate change” could reactivate the “hate”… we are “all” in fight against climate change and not only… in fact against those who want to spread the fear around the world! (but the question of all governments must be “think” is: “how certain persons begin: “dangerous”? The modern society have a part of “responsibility”
And in this country, at this time, some dangerous “persons” are actively: “WANTED”!…

This project it’s for a nice goal and we have “all” a lot of things for to change and for to improve the world where we living, it’s will be all except “easy” and for preparing the future of all of us.

Have a nice week end.

Via Monte Napoleone

Hi Alecs01,

Nice work! We know so much how working on OSM project “take a time”, and all “honest persons” know the goal of this great project. Of course everybody can “improve” the work of the others contributors. But, all contributors must do his best when is working on it. Nobody’s perfect, but all together we can improve and change the world in the deeper if we have enough “will”. However, for several reasons, it isn’t easy each time. We live all in the “dangerous world” and there exist some dangerous persons. The question is: “who is “honest” and who is “dangerous”? It’s not allays so “easy” to reveal… Personally I know what the matter in this world and we are in fight against several things. In fight against “climate change”, in fight against those who want to spread the “fear” around the world for to come back in the certain “past”… We know our future concern not only our “planet”, but it will take a time. So, on earth, we must change our daily gestures and behaviors, for the beginning, it’s will be the “cheaper” act. However, it’s will not enough. So if we want enough time for to build our future we have interest to “change”. The “Mars mapping” party will be not for “tomorrow”…

Have a nice week and congratulation.

Manifesto for OSMF Board 2015

Hi wille,

So your surely a “kind” person with several nice goal. Personally and “unfortunately” I haven’t all skills you have, however I try to do my best when I mapping on this project… I like: “OpenStreepMap” project, “HOT” project, “Wikipedia”…. project… Open sources projects… and all kindness persons, certainly not those “persons” who had “hit” my Country on special date and day: “Friday 13” 2015 the “wold kindness day”!! I’m begun very “suspicious” persons because the human “behaviors”, the human “stupidity” and his stupid “jokes”…

I send to you an simple “hello” from my country to your “country”, for to try to make a “kindness world”…

Have a nice day.
