sorry that my comment comes so late, but unfortunately I noticed these changes just now. I partially reverted this and changesets #107528256, #107570385, #107597830 & #107655490 in my changeset #116127130.

The powerlines as previously mapped do indeed exist. They are relatively recently built and as such aren't visible in your chosen background imagery. Unfortunately the Esri Clarity layer is, while often the sharpest and clearest, one of the oldest imagery available to us. I strongly recommend checking other available imagery layers, especially when you notice such a stark mismatch between what is mapped and what you see in your background imagery.
Although I'm not sure to what extent iD offers access to this data, you could additionally look into the history of these objects and the changesets, which created or modified them. I always list my sources on the changeset, which also could have given you a hint at which background layer to choose in this case.

sorry if my edit has caused you problems. In the future I'll try to limit the geographical area when doing similar edits.
Please note though, that this wasn't an import or mechanical edit. This was very much a manual process. I used TagInfo to find wrong values of generator:type=* (see also my following changesets) and loaded them into JOSM. Then, with the help of the plugin "todo", I reviewed each individual case via aerial imagery (and also Mapillary if available) and made the appropriate changes. Additionally I checked the surrounding area, if there might be missing wind turbines and, if that was the case, also added them.

just to inform you, I reverted your changes to some sections of the 345 kV power line around Duluth, MN & Superior WI in the following changeset:
osm.org/changeset/66209847
The voltage of 315 kV is clearly wrong and was also inconsistent with other sections of the power line.
Can you maybe explain, how those changes happened. They seem quite far away from the other modifications in this changeset and are also not covered by your changeset comment. They look like some kind of mistake, but I also can't really grasp, which actions could have led to this. Maybe a weird search & replace operation?

in the past I simply added barrier=fence to the same way, but now I think that fence and substation should definitely be separate, since one is linear and the other an area. So there are two possible options to do that: 2 stacked ways or as done here a relation. At the moment I'm still experimenting what I like most, both have their positives and negatives.

Thanks for the hint. I've just forgotten that power=plant doesn't get rendered. I added landuse=industrial and used the opportunity to map the generators.

Danke, an die User:talk-Seiten hatte ich jetzt gar nicht mehr gedacht. Allerdings muss ich sagen, dass mir das nicht wirklich weiterhilft bzw. nur noch mehr Fragen aufwirft.
Das fängt schon auf Deiner eigenen Seite [1] an, wo Du Deine Antwort auf eine Anfrage von Neuhausr mit "We..." beginnst, was dann dazu führt, dass Neuhausr in seiner Mail an die Tagging-Liste von der deutschen OSM-Community spricht. Meine Frage wäre hier, wer ist "wir"?
Weiter geht es dann mit der Seite von Chrabros [2], wo sich mein Eindruck von dem gesamten Vorgang leider nicht verbessert. Nachdem Du einige radikale Änderungen an den entsprechenden Wikiseiten gemacht hast und Chrabros diese zumindest zum Teil wieder rückgängig gemacht hat, meldest Du Dich dort mit Deinen Intentionen. Daraufhin weist Chrabros Dich richtigerweise auf die Nutzungsstatistiken hin und meldet auch Bedenken bezüglich des Hauptschlüssels "airmark" an. Dies bleibt von Deiner Seite aus für eine gute Woche unbeantwortet, zumindest im Wiki. Stattdessen führst Du in dieser Zeit weltweite Änderungen durch, um Dich danach mit der Aussage, die Statistiken würden jetzt ja ein klareres Bild ergeben, wieder im Wiki zu melden. Die Zeitachse, die ich hier so für mich rekonstruieren kann, ergibt leider einen sehr faden Beigeschmack.
Von daher als Fazit nochmals die Bitte um Links, falls ich weitere Diskussionen übersehen haben sollte.

Die vergangene Woche über habe ich mich mit dem Tagging von Flughäfen beschäftigt, da ich mit dem Gedanken spiele, in diesem Themenkomplex einige Proposals zu erstellen. Dabei bin ich auch über deine Änderungen zu aeroway=navigationaid und airmark=beacon gestolpert. Nun halte das letztere Schema für eher schlecht, bin aber durchaus an anderen Meinungen interessiert. Leider konnte ich weder auf den Diskussionsseiten noch in den Mailinglisten oder im Forum irgendwelche Diskussionen finden? Ich fände es ehrlich gesagt unglücklich, wenn Du hier eigenhändig ohne vorherige Konsultation weltweite Änderungen in der Datenbank und auch an der entsprechenden Dokumentation im Wiki gemacht haben solltest. Daher würde ich mich sehr freuen, wenn Du mir einen entsprechenden Link posten könntest.

over the past week I did a little research regarding the tagging of airports because I'm thinking about creating some proposals in this topic and as a result I've noticed your changes to aeroway=navigationaid and airmark=beacon. I personally think the latter is a bad tagging scheme for various reasons but I'm interested in other opinions, so I searched for discussions but unfortunately couldn't find any on either the talk pages, mailing lists or forums. Can you point me to those?
