I use a Garmin device. While tracing streets and paths, I usually mark specific points (crossroads, ...) as waypoints. When I'm home again, I use Garmim Mapsource to transfer my recordings to GPX files and upload them to OSM. But now, Waypoints are eliminated in the Potlatch display. I only see my tracks in Potlatch, while my waypoints won't show up in Potlatch. Why is this? I need my waypoints in order to assign street names correctly, etc...

Maybe the waypoints have been lost in the conversion.

Only trackpoints are currently imported from uploaded GPX files - waypoints could be imported but nobody has got around to doing so yet and there are some issues relating to preprogrammed waypoints on some GPS models.
JOSM can display waypoints from local GPX files, which is what I normally do. I'm not sure if Potlatch can do that when it loads a whole trace - in theory it could but I'm no Potlatch expert.

Last time I used Potlatch, if you go to the GPS traces tab, and click "edit" next to the trace in question, the waypoints show up as locked nodes with the text in a tag. If you go straight to the edit screen and display all GPS traces, the waypoints don't show up as it would make editing impossible because of all the extra nodes. Has this changed recently?

Maybe that could help you:
osm.wiki/index.php/Making_GPX_Tracks
"To read waypoints from a Garmin GPS and write them out to the GPX format file named 'waypoint.gpx.' "

I had an issue with potlach not showing my Garmin waypoints a while back. That particular one got fixed, but maybe your problem is related? Before the fix I worked around it by editing the GPX to get rid of a lot of Garmin guff and moved the waypoints to the end of the file, after the tracks.
I believe that GPXes with only waypoints (i.e. no tracks) cannot be used.

Thanks a lot to everybody! daveemtb provided the most easy solution - yes, when working like, my waypoints show up. Great, thanks a lot! In addition to this, I will also look into the Wiki text mentioned by destructor ...
