126066951 | almost 3 years ago | Hi, Unfortunately, I've had to revert this changeset. Highway classifications in New York now follow the ACC codes provided by NYSDOT. The code for this road would make it highway=trunk. highway=trunk (in this region, at least) no longer is used to denote that a road is limited-access, or higher performance in any way. highway=motorway and highway=trunk together form a network of the most important roads, suitable for long distance travel. highway=motorway on top of that implies that it is a controlled-access road. If you wish to convey that a road is an "expressway" (high performance, but still some intersections, stop lights, etc.), please use the expressway=yes tag. Sorry again that I had to revert this, but the new classification system has many benefits, and the state is more unified than it has been before. Thanks for your understanding, -John

122232822 | almost 3 years ago | Hi again, Just commented on one of your other changesets. Again, I unfortunately had to revert parts of this changeset. I doubt that any speed limit signs would apply to the parking lots here, so I've removed the maxspeed tag from the ways within them. I've retained the speed limits on the more prominent roads here, though. Let me know if you have any questions! -John

122232878 | almost 3 years ago | Hi, Thanks for contributing to OSM. I appreciate that you separated out each of your modifications to different changesets, it helps immensely with reviewing them. In the case of this changeset, I've had to revert part of it. Most of the roads that you marked as tertiary don't meet the requirements for this tag. I did make one exception to the revert, that being Service Center Road between Audubon Parkway and Flint Road. It does serve as a bit more of a connector, so I've tagged it as unclassified. This is similar to tertiary, but for roads that are less important. Flint Road is tertiary, and you'd likely agree that Service Center Road is less important than it. Thus, the unclassified tag makes sense here. Sorry to have to revert some of your work here, but if you want to keep mapping, feel free to ask me for advice! I'd be happy to help. -John

125758184 | almost 3 years ago | Hi, Why did you remove the `source:population` tag? What's the source for your new data? |
117534387 | almost 3 years ago | Reverted in osm.org/changeset/125834870 . Please map in accordance with the NYS Classification Guidelines, which would make this part of NY-5S highway=primary with expressway=yes.

125540964 | almost 3 years ago | Reverted in osm.org/changeset/125827988 . Again, local consensus has a higher standard for what can be considered as highway=motorway. This road's limited-access characteristics are conveyed in the expressway=yes tag that is already on it. |
125827791 | almost 3 years ago | Additionally, these roads were already tagged with expressway=yes, which is used to denote their limited access characteristics. |
125540589 | almost 3 years ago | This changeset has been reverted, as the roads do not meet the local requirements for highway=motorway. See osm.org/changeset/125827791 |

106256348 | almost 3 years ago | Hi, You mapped a traffic signal on the subway line beneath the street. Please be careful with what you're mapping. |
124192618 | almost 3 years ago | I have partially reverted this changeset. I set ref=BR again in the Bronx, as this is what is signed. I noticed that you added ref=JR to the Jackie Robinson Parkway, which follows the same conventions that would make the Bronx River Parkway have ref=BR. Also, I moved alt_name to official_name, as this is more suitable for memorial names that aren't in typical use (e.g. Bronx Veterans Memorial Highway). |
123331822 | about 3 years ago | Hi, I'm not so sure about using a multipolygon for this, but I'm not aware of a better (commonly used) relation for this. For now, I'm just going to move the current name to official_name, as it is long, cumbersome, and no one would really use it in normal speech. I'll move alt_name (University at Buffalo) to name, and make alt_name "SUNY Buffalo". I feel that this is more representative of the way people refer to the university. |
122821115 | about 3 years ago | Hi, Why did you make the Central Westchester Parkway trunk? Is it because NYSDOT said so, or just because it's an expressway?
|
122846000 | about 3 years ago | Hi, Thanks for contributing! I'm more or less okay with NY-22 being primary, at least in most of Westchester. Mamaroneck Avenue probably deserves it too, though I don't get over that way too much. That said, you've been making a lot of significant classification changes over the last day, for the most part seemingly copied verbatim from NYSDOT. Though there are new classification guidelines in place that are based on NYSDOT data, NYC and the area around it isn't as solidified as the rest of the state. If you're going to be making a lot of classification changes, please have a voice in the community and ask for opinions before you make significant changes. The #local-newyorkstate channel in the OSMUS Slack (https://slack.openstreetmap.us/) is a great place to start. If you could join and let us know your intentions before making these changes, we can make sure there's consensus before anyone puts in the time to change anything. Thanks!
