Hi, I'm fine with soumehow distinguishing the irregular (rare) checks on borders within Schengen, and systematic checks outside. But it needs to be agreed upon on the Tagging mailing list and be documented on the wiki. Because there are many people adding the controls inside of Schengen, please see this query: http://overpass-turbo.eu/s/Gu9 .
There are also the border controls on airports and ports to be seen.

So can you post to the Tagging mailinglist to get some ideas? Thanks

So if mapping facts, have you immediatelly added all border controls of Poland at the time in November-December 2018 when they did actually have systematic border checks (due to some international conference)? Also have you added all controls in Germany, Austria, Norway, Denmark etc. since 2015 when they were systematic (or only some of them). If not, then maybe having the warning/or eventuality of a border control in the OSM map on all of them may not be as wrong. Maybe we could put intermittent=yes onto these border_control nodes? Then routing SW could e.g. put less penalty on going through them.

For your, example, I can understand that if you add border_control nodes to PL/LT crossing, then the LT/BY crossing has the same penalty and may actually be a shorter route so you get routed there. But you somehow assume that intra-Schengen border controls aren't real controls, but others are. That is your interpretation that there must be systematic checks, but that is not clearly covered by the currect description of the tag (see OSM wiki). See it mentions to tag places where you "MIGHT be passport checked".
By that rule, I'd be fine if you tagged any common checkpoints even 100 km from the border. E.g. if you go with a car to a a ferry ship in the Mediterraneans, you may be "border controlled" as you will pass into a different country through the sea. So the border_control on the port road may be in order. Also see the discussion to the tag at osm.wiki/Talk:Tag:barrier%3Dborder_control, there are some other properties/restrictions that would be useful to map, so how probable a passport check is may be one of them, to somehow distinguish the intra-Schengen borders.

Hi, thanks, I understand that there is the Schengen area and there is no systematic border control. But that may not mean there is none. Also, intra-Schengen controls can be restarted systemically any time the government decides so, e.g. due to terorism or migration (apparently some countries like Germany or Austria do checks right now) .

For the routing problem, if you want to intentionally go into the other country, why would you choose the "avoid border control" option in a GPS routing app? If you really do choose it, then using some small roads is probably the right result:) I'm not sure how such small cross-border roads without border control exist, but they seem to do (in OSM). The "avoid border control (or border crossing)" option may be useful when you actually want to avoid randomly going into different country (e.g. due to motorway toll), when your start and destination point is within the same country. E.g. currently if you want to go from Kosice or Cierna nad Tisou (SK) to Bratislava (SK), you will get routed through motorways (M3, M1) in Hungary, as it is faster due to the incomplete motorways in Slovakia.

Dakujem.

Hi, why do you think, there is no border control at the border here between Hungary and Slovakia? Also why do you think it is NOT on the main road 17, but there is control on the service roads in between? There is border control, but it does not mean it has to stop every car.
