Sample of Trails and more Canvec Data

It's the french accented letters which cause the conversion being wrong.
And i list the french word for each feature, as that's how it is from the source. (French is the Official 2nd language)

Would it be better to just list the 'english' & french text with ':en & :fr? as a separate tag?

I don't know how to add the different characters.
Do you have a better solution?

Thanks,

Was it the same user(s) that imported the data?
If so, then it might be possible to remove that particular users edits.

... im using a new login prefixed with the name of the import.
Then logging in as my regular login todo the manual fixes.

As im not familiar with the area, what features are needed to be fixed?

Thanks,
Sam

Problem with new API :(

I'm watching the dev list, and it looks like it's being discussed & worked on :-)

Mapping mount tolmie trails

Yup, i saw that, thanks :)
The purpose of mapping this way is to figure out how to deal with the GeoBase Import.

I figure that the best way to deal with having roads already there is to create an overlay of the GeoBase (or canvec) roads available. .. and use it as a layer in JOSM. .. Just hiding the layer before uploading the changes.

This way, i would be 'enhancing' the road that someone else already did, by adding a few more nodes and making the curve of the road more precise.

In this case, the road is on a hill so more nodes are needed, and it would be a matter of just making the road in the center of the 2 bollards. And adding a line from each bollard indicating thats where the trail goes.

Thanks for the post. On the talk-ca list, were still racking our brains on how to make it work. :)

GeoBase import -notice update

Thanks, the feedback is appreciated.
I'm working on a todo list for tasks needed to be done. So then everyone can chime in, where they can.

GeoBase import -notice update

Sometimes its hard to keep up with the talk-ca discussion, so transferring the points is another another task.
Thanks for the comment :)

Great, but your link doesnt work :(
I think you would be better off, posting your diary entries on this site here
and posting your OSM related profile on the wiki site.
Thoughts about how to fix OSM are welcomed and encouraged. :)
On each wiki page, where you think there there should be changes, feel free to note them on each discussion page.
And yes, the community will happily challenge your declarations :)
... as long as you can back up all the points, if there is enough reasons, many aspects of this site can be changed.

Hope that helps.

News: Geobase import (for Canada)

I have updated the wiki with your question, and if you would like to join the talk-ca mailing list, your welcome to help if you can.

Geo caching

Probably, it is a free map and available to easily download from the wiki site.
... the biggest challenge is 'Awareness that this exists'. Perhaps there is a better way to make the casual viewers who search for free maps to find this site?
Although I have never geocached, nor do i understand the purpose of it :) .. imo

Restrictions and Bike Lane Wierdness

dout ... Silicon Valley, ...
anyway.. if this bike lane is part of a cycling route, a relation route would be good, the bikemap would sure pick it up.

Restrictions and Bike Lane Wierdness

Cool, would you be able to pin point the location of it on the map?
Thanks,
Sam

P.S. My guess is LA, California?

Adding more stuff in the Mount Doug park

Thanks... Bollard! right :)
and ya, wetlands, the area im working on isn't wetlands, however i know of a few parks in the area that has it, so i'll make sure to use it. ... so to show where the lake/pond starts and wetlands ends.

Mapping Eastwood Mall

Awesome work.. I looked at it in JOSM (i find its easier to see it that way) and saw the car repair area and found "garmin:description=car repair" ... that's what ive been looking for, for the longest time now... how to make it show up in the description area. As i'd like to see the company's phone number and address in that field.
1/2 a world a way. Thanks for the help :)
I'll try in on my gps... hopefully it will work :)

Inspecting Nanaimo, BC while i wait for OSM

That being said.... doesnt that mean that we can have a planet size database for the cycle map.. and one for hiking... and one for driving? ... so that would be just 3 databases. I dont see any reason why anyone would want any more than just the 3 defult types. .. perhaps one for feet. ... then it would be 6 types. But i dont see any more types.
"would result in the contours being unreadably close together."
... the zoom level could fix that, right? .. just how it does on the Garmin map of srtm data.

Wow, i just have to share this. BikeMap.net

Cool, im also on the Google group forum, ive added to my post discussion :)

sweet! thanks. That's 2 now :)

Updates to Charlottetown

Awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
I'm really hoping for the entire Confederation Trail (Trans Canada Trail) on the island to be mapped.
I'll map it myself when i get there (but would be easier if others could do so) :) This way, my work would be more in the lines of making sure that all the important useful information is shown (Tourist Information spots, Camping, Accomidations & Bike shops)
