I primarily map in Connecticut. My main goal is improving routing for cyclists and pedestrians/hikers. At the moment this means a lot of surface tagging (trying to tag every residential road in the state), adding unmapped trails from strava and trail maps (there are many!), and aligning existing trails and roads (both for clearer gps navigation and for better route elevation estimates).
