After two weeks of vacation in Italy I've gathered lots of track data of Toscany which will keep me busy for a while.
Interestingly I found that my car navigation system with up-to-date data sometimes works terribly bad in Italy. I hit lots of streets and roundabouts that where not in the map. Between Bologna an Firence I even found parts of the Autostrada not in the map. So my navi quite often totally lost orientation.
For whatsoever reason, proprietary map data in Italy seems to be real bad. I felt the community based approach of OSM could do really good there, as local street changes might find there way into the database quicker.
Even thought Italy seems to be a great field of activity, OSM data in Italy is still quite rare. Hopefully OSM will find more supporters in Italy.
Best regards,
Andi
