Here’s 4 new features that we’re really proud of!… lets rumble

🧚‍♂️ Pixi v8 Upgrade!

We upgraded Rapid’s render to use the latest version of PixiJS game engine. This version gives Rapid a welcome performance boost - if you’ve aired any grievances about Rapid being laggy, the new Rapid should perform much better for you!

Rapid v2.4 is released!

Арахецна bhousel 17 September 2024, мотт: English

Last week we released Rapid v2.4, the most advanced web-based editor for OpenStreetMap. This release wraps up several months of work, includes numerous bugfixes, and a few notable features:

🈺 Improved Text Localization

Now Rapid can again be localized into different languages. The Rapid Editor project on Transifex allows anyone from the community to translate Rapid.

📷 Improved Handling of Street-level Imagery and Detections

We squashed a bunch of bugs and made many improvements to how Rapid handles street-level imagery, such as Mapillary. Now users can select a detected feature or traffic sign to learn more about it, and Rapid will highlight the imagery that shows that detection, both on the map and in the viewer. This will be especially useful for mapping pedestrian features, such as traffic signs, crosswalks, bike racks, and more.

I’m excited to announce that today we released Rapid v2.3 editor for OpenStreetMap! The Rapid team has been busy working on this for the past few months - here’s 4 new features that we hope you’ll love…

🔙 Esri Wayback imagery

The world never stops changing! We added a new background layer called “Esri Wayback” to let you view historical releases of the Esri World Imagery. This background source also has a date picker to help you choose from dates likely to show changes in the current map view. Open the Background pane to try it out!

🔄 Map Rotation

Take Rapid for a spin! Now you can rotate the map to make your editing easier (and avoid straining your neck!). Rapid supports rotating with option+click-drag or shift+←/→ arrows, just like other maps you’ve used before. A new bearing control displays a north arrow, and you can click it to reset the map back to North-up.
