Skye

c2r 于 2013年九月 9日 以 English 发布

The Isle of Skye (off the coast of Scotland) seems to have disappeared from the osm default renderer…. I’ve had a look in potlatch2, and I can’t determine whether (a) this has been fixed yet, or (b) if not how to fix it .

Anyone got any ideas? Cheers Chris

New GPS

c2r 于 2011年四月27日 以 English 发布

Anyone got any recommendations for a new GPS unit? I've been using a Dell axim with a separate bluetooth receiver (the Slim GPS) and OSMtracker installed for the past six years, and I think the bluetooth receiver has given up the ghost.

I'm after something fairly robust that I can use as a navigation aid on the hills, as well as for day to day track collection. Perhaps just a replacement for the bluetooth module, although the axim itself is getting longer in the tooth!

Cheers,
Chris

OziExplorer

I travel around a lot for a living and at the moment have to compare roads on paid for maps, against the OSM data and then plan a route in advance to take me along roads that don't yet exist in OSM so that I can record the trails...

This is a bit time consuming and relies on me knowing in advance where I'm travelling to during the day.

Has anyone got any idea if/how I can export large areas of OSM at different scales to OZI Explorer georeferenced tiff/jpg files so that if I am travelling in unfamiliar areas, I can map easily and explore areas which aren't yet mapped, to collect data on trails and then import back into OSM?

A.10 bypass road footpaths

c2r 于 2009年五月27日 以 English 发布

Today I have mostly been ensuring that the footpath and bridleway changes as a result of the A.10 bypass have beeen correctly mapped. It's interesting as some of the paths are left truncated, like Thundridge FP21, while others are diverted to nearby bridges, while new bridges have been created for private farm use....

Fords

Any suggestions by anyone how different categories of fords should be recorded?

For example how would you distinguish the following:

Surfaced fords at a point such as Barwick (TL386189)

Irish Bridges at a point, such as Buntingford (TL363299)

Unsurfaced fords at a point with surfaced approaches, such as Standon (TL393221)
Unsurfaced fords at a point with unsurfaced approaches, such as Latchford (TL394205 and TL388201)

Unsurfaced fords running along river beds for a distance, such as Furneaux Pelham (TL437294 running in a southwardly direction to TL438283)

Surfaced tidal roads running in or across the sea (e.g. to Holy Island at NU089429)

Unsurfaced tidal roads running in or across the sea (e.g. Maplin Sands TQ999889)
