GPX drive trace of Dayboro - harder than I thought!

Vum chas678 matgedeelt de(n) 20. Dezember 2009 op English.

Raining today (in Queensland!), so bike riding was out, and I had access to a car. So took off on a jaunt to get a trace for the village of Dayboro in Queensland, which hasn't had much OSM attention as far as I could see. The mechanics of surveying alone in a car turned out to be harder than I thought; in fact I'll probably resign myself to do just do each area twice as I just can't get the names of streets down in a way that I can understand later on when keying in the data. I tried waypoints and notes, and photographs, neither were, ahem, foolproof; so I've lost a bit of the naming data from today.
Nice drive though, nice place.

I came to the same conclusions some time ago, it's easiest to survey streets and map them, then go back for names, it's just too difficult to do anything else on your own.

However having said that there is a lot of data available with the map boundary data for Qld that should allow you to plot basic streets out for any Qld town, and then do the survey + street names at the same time.

Yeah, whenever I've driven and mapped at the same time there's been a lot of pulling over to write stuff down. Very stop-start, I don't think it's possible any other way (and it's no fun either. ;)

I face the same problem. Maybe audio notes could resolve the problem?
