Using OSM maps in Drupal with Mapping Kit module

I want to set up a new website with drupal and integrate OSM maps, as the mapping kit module suggests. For me it would be enough to show a map in a certain zoom level.
So far the theory. The implementation gets me totally confused. First, a map context needs to be created. I don't know what URL has to be entered in the service field. Does anybody out there have experiences with the mapping kit module in Drupal and can give me a hint to documentation or a short note about his/her setup? Thank you very much.

Does this mapping kit module do OSM?
I'm just setting up Drupal to move a site to it, I'll be looking for an OSM module in the next few months. I was expecting to have to do a lot of code writing myself.

I have seen an example using OSM data at the module page [1] itself and on [2]. But I'm missing a step by step instruction that does not require more detailed knowledge about the module itself.

I was just going over some saved blog posts and there was this one, but further down the pile was: osm.org/user/kaerast/diary/4376
Sounds like that's what you need, I still haven't got round to doing it myself.
