Hi ppjj. The Yiddish names of these villages is already in name:yi, as you mention here, but the English name was already in name:en as well. Why did you remove the Yiddish part from the name tag?

We all want our edits to show up on the map. That's all that's saying. What's important is that we don't input incorrect data to make things show up a certain way on a particular renderer.

You'd be surprised about how much these details matter. Wheelchair users must pass through a curb cut to go from the street to the pedestrian area, but as this plaza is currently mapped, it appears as if there is no curb and a wheelchair user can seamlessly pass from the street to the plaza. Public transit stations are a high-priority area for pedestrian and wheelchair mapping, so the more accurate the better.

Thanks for changing the station name back to Rahway. Generally, we do not change the names of things just because something else has the same name nearby—a good OSM renderer, like the standard one you see on this website, will apply different styles to different things, so it should be unambiguous which Rahway is a municipality or a train station.

As for the pedestrian area, the "space unaccounted for" is still part of the roadway and not the pedestrian area. Consider using the area:highway tag [1] to map areas of roadway instead. Note that support for this tag is experimental, and it doesn't show up on the standard renderer. But OSM is a database, and we don't map things for one specific renderer [2]. I would also suggest adding the crosswalks leading into this area, to keep pedestrian routing connected.

Hi Chronoshift. Thanks for your detailed contributions! The station's looking pretty good overall, though I have just a couple nitpicks:

How come the station name was changed to "Rahway Train Station"? As far as I know, the running in boards at the station platforms just say Rahway, so the name of the station node should match. "Rahway Train Station" seems more appropriate as a name for the building.

The pedestrian area multipolygon should end at the curb instead of being attached to the roadways. As it is, a couple lanes of roadway are included in this pedestrian area, and of course those aren't walkable, so the outline of the area should be detached and shifted over a little.

Hi there Danny,

Thanks for adding speed limits to the Capital Subdivision. In the US, railroad speed limits are almost always defined in miles per hour, which is reflected in OSM by appending " mph" to the maxspeed value. If no unit is specified, software will assume kilometers per hour.

The Amtrak station building was previously tagged with building=train_station. Here it was changed to building=yes and railway=station was added. Was this intentional?

Sunset Station is not currently a train station. Amtrak operations have moved to the neighboring building to the south. The link in the website tag leads to a redirect, indicating that Sunset Station is now an event venue called The Espee: https://www.theespee.com/

Why did you tag this segment of Capital Boulevard as trunk? This has created an island of trunk highway disconnected from the rest of the network on both ends. This goes against tagging guidelines for trunk roads in the US—could you please undo this change?

Hi there Jacob,

I was checking US route relations for consistency and I noticed you changed the ref value of this route from "14A" to "14 ALT". I'm aware that this route has a nonstandard shield, with "ALT" appearing below the number inside the shield instead of above on a banner sign, though I'm not sure "ALT" belongs in the ref value since that info is already supplied in the network tag. Would it be okay if I changed the ref value to just "14"?

network=US:TX:CTRMA:Express is not documented or supported by any software. Does this route truly have shields that differ from other CTRMA routes?

Why did you retag the express lanes of Loop 1 as motorway_link? These definitely don't meet the criteria for link roads.
