Problem with Yahoo WMS plugin in JOSM

Publicado por compdude em 11 novembro 2010 em English.

Hello,

I just downloaded JOSM not long ago, along with the YahooWMS plugin. I have tried using it, but have noticed that the imagery appears to be pixelated and when I zoom in, the imagery doesn't automatically reload in a higher resolution like I'd expect it to. I tried right clicking on the "Yahoo Sat" layer (in the layers panel on the right) and I clicked change resolution, thinking that would make it load a higher-res image. I clicked that and waited, but nothing happens. I don't see why this has to be lower resolution than the SAME yahoo imagery in Potlatch.

Is there a setting I need to change somewhere, or is this a bug? I'm not using a beta version of JOSM. Please let me know.

--Thanks, Compdude

PS. What was with the server yesterday afternoon? I went to OSM at 6pm PST (pacific standard time) yesterday and it took way longer to load pages and it took an unreasonable amount of time to upload a small changeset (6 nodes, 3 ways) in Potlatch. Was there a REALLY BIG edit/upload going on and slowing the servers down?

Check out usgs imagery. It is a lot more reliable. I've never been able to get yahoo to work. It is just one of those things that may not work no matter what you try. It works good here in calif.

the WMS layer in JOSM does not change resolution once you opened it. So, first zoom in to the resolution you want and then open a WMS layer. You can also have several Yahoo layers open at once, just stack them in the right order (that's what the arrows for sorting layers are for).

You can also right click on the imagery layer in the "Layers" box and select "Change resolution" to have the WMS plugin reload that imagery at the current zoom level.

@nmixter: Thanks for the suggestion. The USGS imagery should be available for all of the US, right? Where can I download the plugin/layer for it? And how recently was the image taken?

@nmixter: the first link you had doesn't work. When I clicked on it, it says: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
