Is anyone besides me annoyed at the fact that the Save button was moved to the opposite side of the edit window, right underneath the view button? Has anyone besides me clicked the Options button instead of the Save button? And has anyone clicked the view button and found themselves having lost all their changes? (That almost happened to me, except Awesome Firefox warned me my changes would be lost if I continue.)

Anyway, my point is that the Potlatch developers should move it back how it was before, because it really was better on the right side of the page. Right is another way of saying correct, so moving it back would be the correct thing to do.

It was moved after studies shown that new users automatically went to the top left to find the save button. This change is designed to make the experience for the new user much better Potlatch now places the save button where every other app out there places the save button.

Expect the zoom bars to move to the other side.

The warning about lost changes is actually a feature of Potlatch. Webpages have to opt into that dialog.

Compdude: much easier for established users like us to get used to the change (seriously - I was used to it after about three clicks), than for incoming newbies who will, be definition, never get used to any change.

(err, by "change", I mean, divergence from their initial expectations)

It confused me. But given smsm1's comment, I now understand why it was changed. Makes sense I guess!

There will be lots of similar small changes happening based on the same research to be able to make it easier for new people to get started and to continue mapping. There was a presentation at State of the Map EU this year about it.

The Save button is now located like in a text processing software like M$ WORD. Just think about saving a WORD document and you will keep it in mind!
