Holy crap, the new server is AMAZING! I just did a bunch of edits (not all in one changeset) and once I saved them and clicked “View” my changes were visible already. That is amazingly fast, and I can only remember one other time where this happened.

This is not because of the new db server (ramoth)… this server just manages the database itself. The API runs on other servers. What you meant was the mapnik render server (yevaud). There haven’t been any changes to this. But you’re right, the rerendering is damn fast.
Most of the time, the mapnik tiles are updated very fast, but you need to reload them because your browser has cached the old ones. So simply pressing F5 will update your map view ;)

I’ve been noticing almost immediate gratification as well. Whatever the cause of the new speed, I’m loving it.

Probably the other reason why it’s so fast is that everyone is holding off on major edits/ imports, which the OSMF kindly told us all to postpone.
