Bing -- Love or Hate it? | Well, at least it isn't as old as Yahoo's imagery! I've always wished that OSM had Google maps' imagery, because that is updated frequently. |
Tesco Changes in Newtown, Powys, UK | Don't copy from other maps (ie Google Maps, etc)! This is illegal, but a lot of people still get away with it. |
OpenLinkMap layer in FacilMap | This would be really cool if we had this feature in OSM! If only i had some programming experience, then i'd be able to help you. |
PLEASE FIX THESE MAPNIK BUGS!! | @skystis, and TomH, Come on you guys. Don't you realize not everyone has programming experience? I don't have programming experience! And I wasn't trying to be mean or anything--I'm sorry if you assumed that. And if I DID have programming experience, I wouldn't have even posted anything here and instead try to fix it myself. DUH! |

Bing aerial imagery - awesome! | It's nice for mapping roads in, say, a new housing development. But to find out the names of the roads, you still have to go survey that area. At least it's more up-to-date than the Yahoo imagery :) |
Mapping Niger/Mali- a 1.8 million city pops up | Wow, it's pretty easy to tell the extent of the Bing imagery:). I'm not sure if anybody else has noticed, but you can kind of see a "box" from where it goes from being a bunch of roads to none at all. |

Is there an OSM editor that doesn't suck? | @Richard, Like many people, I'd like to help with programming w/ the osm editors but i don't have much programming experience. :( |
Is there an OSM editor that doesn't suck? | I don't like JOSM very much, either. It seems to take a few extra clicks to do stuff. And also, the yahoo_wms plugin fails. I would use Merkaartor b/c of the simpler interface, but i've heard it crashes a lot. Also, potlatch 1 drives me crazy sometimes, especially when it "forgets" my changes. Yes I must agree with you about the fact that the OSM editors all suck--they do! But Potlatch 2 is really awesome! |

Mapping improvements made possible by [[Bing]] | How recent is the imagery? It's definitely not as recent as Google Maps, but it's nice to see that a big company like Microsoft contributing their data to OSM :). Maybe they will see how crappy the OSM map looks in Seattle and start helping us improve it. PS. Potlatch 2 is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! |

Addresses in South Boulder | Milliams is right. It's the information in OSM that matters--not the way it renders. Don't worry about it. Every part of the map should include all the detail that's there. |
Problem with Yahoo WMS plugin in JOSM | @nmixter: the first link you had doesn't work. When I clicked on it, it says: "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
Problem with Yahoo WMS plugin in JOSM | @nmixter: Thanks for the suggestion. The USGS imagery should be available for all of the US, right? Where can I download the plugin/layer for it? And how recently was the image taken? |
how to map usage of university buildings | I know this isn't really related to your post but I noticed some areas around the university that are marked with the tag landuse=forest. According to the wiki, this tag should be used only for forests that are managed (ie owned by a logging company). Obviously these forests don't appear to be big enough to be owned by a logging company, so shouldn't they be marked as natural=wood? |
Local updates to reflect area | DO NOT copy from google maps or any other map that has a copyright! This is not only illegal but there's a possibility that google maps may be wrong. |
New Contributor | Welcome to OSM (Open Street Map)! |

New here and ready to work! Question about map detail. | WARNING: Openstreetmap can have the potential to get very addictive. For example: you are fixing one thing, then you see something else that needs fixing. As you are fixing that, you see something else that needs fixing. It just goes on and on and on... Happy mapping! And don't get addicted :) |

River names not being displayed | @Vclaw it says that if it's a narrow river, then you don't need to do the riverbank. |
http://keepright.ipax.at/ | I agree with you, there's LOTS of little problems with the TIGER import. However, I have been editing in Seattle, WA and haven't seen many unconnected ways. |

Map takes a long time to show my edits | When you are viewing the map, there is a "+" on the right-hand side. If you click it, it will let you change to a different style. Try selecting Osmarender and seeing if your changes appear. Edits usually show up quicker in Osmarender than Mapnik. |
