What is the best map background to use for adding things to the map?
Air a phostadh le conifermapper 14 An Gearran 2021 sa chànan EnglishPersonally ,I think it is best to use Bing Imagery for adding new things to the map as it is often has the most up to date imagery ,but if you are adding things that were always there IRL but not on OpenStreetMap(In the UK), then you should use OS OpenData Streetview.

I don’t have a super-strong opinion, here. I use Bing imagery, myself. Here in Humboldt County, California, at least, it usually lines up well with my GPS traces and such.

There is no general answer for this. It depends on the area you are actually mapping in. Even within a country the coverage of an aerial imagery provider might differ in quality / date / offset etc.
So it is always advisable to check that before starting to map or starting to shift objects around.

Unless you plan on changing everything in one area, the best imagery is that which matches everything else nearby. :)
In the UK - Bing has been updated with newer imagery, but in many places it is out of alignment with the current data, Esri clarity (old Bing) and OSSV.
