Bing goes the University of Bath

Started to use Bing imagery to sketch my Uni. I should have taken a before screen-shot for comparison but in all the excitement to start it never occurred to me.

The campus is rather a pain to map, consisting of 4 levels of buildings, a roadway on the ground level, a pedestrian concourse on the 1st level and various crossing bridges; all resulting in some head-scratching and rendering hiccups.

I can't remember the names of all the little buildings so I might just have to return to fill them in.

It looks awesome. That's a lot of nice work.

I have one suggestion when tracing buildings: use where the buildings hit the ground for your points rather than the roof lines. A lot of imagery is shot at an angle rather than straight down and the base points will be more accurate than the roof points. You can really see the difference on those "L" shaped building on the east side of campus.

Lee,

Good point. I think I was naturally using the roof lines as that is the easiest way to get a full outline of the building.

You can always trace using the roof of the building and then shift it to align with the foot-print. Assuming of course that the roof and the base are the same shape/size.

@Milliams, yeah I realised that pretty much straight after I made the comment... my brain doesn't function too well in the morning :)
