Thanks to NL for hosting Riverton survey. Names have been entered into OSM. As usual, raw data used to update way names will be available at vlchung.freeshell.org.

Canning Vale Name Data

Entered Canning Vale name data.

It's looking like no one likes the idea of separating survey data collection from way editing (in the hope that less-technically minded people will offer to perform surveys), so my J2ME client / postgreSQL server / AJAX viewer system will not be made public.

As always, a non-searchable mirror of the survey data (Firefox, Opera, Safari only) will be available at http://vlchung.freeshell.org/mapMe_view.html

Canning Vale, Perth Western Australia: Survey 2

Thanks to GW for hosting the second Canning Vale survey. All name data is available at the usual place:

http://vlchung.freeshell.org/mapMe_view.html

If anyone out there has some free time, I'd appreciate it if someone had a go at using the survey data to put the names in, and tell me whether I should be adding anything to my hypothetical 'list of guidelines' when using my survey helper program.

Dunsborough Western Australia: Lots of tracing needed!

Many, many streets are missing from OSM - anyone who would like to help could use Nearmap's aerial photography to trace all the streets that are missing.

Marangaroo Survey

Conducted a survey of the gaps in the name data for the Marangaroo area with SL. Data has been entered into my web database using J2ME app. Mirror available at http://vlchung.freeshell.org/mapMe_view.html

Τοποθεσία: Marangaroo, City of Wanneroo, Western Australia, 6064, Australia

Success, Perth, Western Australia on foot survey

Thanks to SL for hosting another on foot name survey of the Success area. All data collected using my J2ME app and a compass. Public mirror of the data collected available at http://vlchung.freeshell.org/mapMe_view.html (Firefox / Opera only)

Came across a fragment of Perth Bicycle Network path SE41. Have created a new relation to match.

J2ME Demo

I've created an "offline" version of my J2ME/Web helper application and left a copy at:

http://vlchung.freeshell.org/mapMe_view.html

(Firefox, Opera only) so everyone can see what it can do. It has been "hardwired" to display all the data I collected during my South Lake Survey. I'd be interested in hearing what people had to say about the concept - if there is interest, I'll take it further, otherwise I'll probably just use it myself when I do on-foot surveys.

South Lake Survey

Thanks to DK for coming with me on the survey. We used my new J2ME helper application to enter the street names and other points of interest into a GPS enabled phone, which we then uploaded to my website, which I'll use later to fill in the street names for the areas we surveyed.

About 2/3 of the way through our on-foot survey, it rained :(

Many thanks so far to (initials used to preserve people's privacy):

DK - hosting the Bibra Lake survey
SL - hosting the Success (that's the name of a suburb in Perth) survey
CJ - coming with me on the Mount Claremont survey
GW - hosting the Canning Vale survey
JF - resident of the Southern Cross Village at Success and board member of the same, who escorted us access past the "private road no access sign" with the assurance that we could mention his name if anyone asked why we were there.

Walking papers - I use their printouts on every on-foot survey.
