Can I make that many queries to Wikidata?

When you enter data for 60K+ items you can query “all cities in country with property P1448”. It should work, you can limit results if needed.

But I don’t have the time now

It won’t harm you, you don’t need to change anything yet. It can be that you will never switch to Wikidata API or WDQS, but you can contribute. You can donate data and wait when somebody will pick it up:

Thing that I can access data using SPARQL/CSV query without a line of code other than SPARQL. Not only it is perfect, it takes 4 minutes to do so and data will be up-to-date.

so I kept it all in OpenStreetMap

It is impossible to have qualifiers separate from properties in OSM: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Help:Qualifiers without parsing; furthermore, almost everything is multilingual.

Impressive, but now I prefer Wikidata for this task, e.g. “Ленинград”: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q656#P1448 and https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q656#P17

Code in python would be slightly longer than 30L, but I appreciate how data is layouted in WD so that you don’t need to unparse anything.

Some people don’t like this swarm of newcomers

few users like Eternal September effect.

If they add real objects - fine, even if using suboptimal tags.

If they add imaginary pokemon parks and woods - no so much, right?

OSM value is not in “everyone can edit”, but “actual, verifiable” data.

If they tag pokemon spawns using pokemons=here - then it’s fine, but if they change woods to parks and vice versa…

The problem is the inconsistency caused by having multiple keys from OSM to another database, when it could easily be eliminated.

Absolutely agree with @PlaneMad, we shouldn’t have 2 keys at the same time:

• wikipedia and wikidata
• wikipedia:xx and wikidata
• wikipedia:xx and wikipedia

It is simpler to update single wikidata tag, not multiple tags with unclear (undocumented) preference between each other.

Furthermore, it creates complexity (what key to trust/read/update first) when a single tag wikidata can be sufficient.

Glad to hear that everyone seem to agree that we need reference to Wikipedia/Wikidata in OpenStreetMap.

name=* or name:ru=* or name:uk=* debate in Urkaine was horribly long, wikipedia:xx tags repeat mistakes of name:xx.

The best approach is not to rely on current languages in area of mapping and not to rely on users presence/local language in wikipedia=*.

There at least one objective reason for wikidata=* over wikipedia=*:

Wikidata IDs are more stable (they are not going to change it title of Wikipedia article will be changed from “A” to “A (in C)” or “A (geographical name)”

@alexkemp, it happens. I was asked inappropriate questions several times. Please don’t call other person as a MPG, even (s)he acted really weird (important: from your POV) in the first encounter.

I completely understand your frustration during OSM-centric photo sessions (when your actions are legal and with a good cause), but other people don’t know what are you doing.

• They simply don’t know you, but you are walking here with camera for the first time
• Some users are really curious as person with camera is not something frequently seen around them (they are not interested to give interviews)
• Some users may want privacy (private rubbish, “please delete this photo you just taken”)
• Some users never heard about OSM

I find the best approach is

1 to ask if they use maps/google/whatever to search addresses or POI

2 suggest to see an empty area / completely mapped area of their interest in OSM

OR

3 Use Dashcam

4 Go there when everybody sleeps/inside houses - osm.wiki/Mapping_Tricks_and_tips#If_possible.2C_map_during_night.2Fearly_morning_and_public_holidays

Я и не заметил вашу заметку сразу.

В вики описано использование wd

weekday не подходит потому как поразумевает дни недели пн-пт (в России). Причём четверг или пятница могут быть выходными. Вместо пн-пт вам нужны “рабочие дни”, а их не было.

Вы не можете сказать PH off и выбрать последний четверг Th[-1] или пятницу Fr[-1] в теге объекта - потому что не известно на какой именно день пришёлся “красный день календаря” (PH), они в каждый год разные.

“последний рабочий день месяца с 9:00 до 14:00”

bigopenmac, наверное, вы - первый кто такое предложил в OpenStreetMap.

Это сложное правило, для него придётся придумывать ключевое слово: не PH, а LBD (last business day) или похожее. Предлагайте лучший вариант - будете его автором.
