I habe anhand von Bing o.a. Bereich angeschaut. Es ist gut, sehr gut.
Ich bin auch ein Alleingänger, hat auch vorteile. Es gibt genug zu tun for die nächste 100 Jahre.

Introducing Team Surrey

In this context: A question to Andy Allen!
Is it true that if a user does not accept the ODBL and contributor terms then his/her data will be eliminated forever? I was not aware of this as I could not be bothered to follow the issue or debate on it.
If so, can I do the following:
Isolate the users in question (using the filter function in JOSM) within my area of interest: Change the data a little bit to give it my user-name and therewith keep the data for a few hundred years or am I not allowed to do this.
It seems like a simple solution. It just needs to publish somewhere!

switch2osm.org

I like the simplicity (i.e. readability) of the site. Please keep it that way!
And I like the idea and iniative.

Option - show coordinates of cursor - why only longitude is displayed?

You must state what display/tool you are using. There is a lot of them for different platforms.

GPSmap 60CSx Request for advice

Thank you all for the advice/information. Please clarify the following.
From now on the tracks and the associated waypoints will both be saved to the sd-card on a daily bassis. This assumes that I have set the wrap-around function to OFF and the TRACK-To-SD-CARD to ON.

GPSmap 60CSx Request for advice

Thank-you both for the advice. Just to make sure that I understand the system functionality please confirm the following:
The data (i.e. The 90% mentioned above) will not be transferred to the micro-SD but will remain in the RAM. From i.e. tomorrow all the new data will be stored directly to the micro-SD and the RAM will remain at 90% full. That means that my history will not be lost and any new data will be saved with the date as directly to the SD-Card.
Thankyou once again.

Problems with map loading

If you want someone to answer this question then you should be more explicit.
i.e. Why can I not load the map from ? to ?.

Cite on the OpenstreetMap wiki

Some of us may have never heard of "cite". It would be nice to provide a link so the ignorant can get themselves informed.
Thank-you

Apps endanger OSM hosting by hammering the tiles servers

Eliminating redundant nodes with a global application tool would help to alleviate the problem. I have just done a trial on five ways and with the help of the JOSM "Simplify Way" tool did the following analysis:
way 1 1977 reduced by 488 nodes
way 2 1920 reduced by 723 nodes
way 3 1210 reduced by 363 nodes
way 4 1155 reduced by 494 nodes
way 5 846 reduced by 407 nodes
Total 7108 reduced by 3632 nodes i.e. a reduction of approx. 51% of the nodes.
I am not saying that this will decrease traffic by 51% but it would do its little bit.

I'm back after a year away.

Since 2007 I have been using a Garmin GPX60Csx for tracking.
I bought an Android phone (Samsung Galaxy GT I 1900) 6 months ago.
I, too, compared the tracking capabilities of the two devices.
Conclusion:
The Galaxy is useless as a tracking device. It seems that Samsung added the GPS capabilities as an afterthought. To make it work the GPS, WLAN, and the Phone provider connection have to be on. Even so, in hilly areas tracking is on/off and when on, the tracks are up to 500 meters off the way I am on.
As a navigation device it is just as bad. When in my car, I rarely get a position and when I do it is sometimes miles off. Bare in mind that I am comparing the results with my Garmin which is correct to within 3 meters most of the time.
Just for the record, I try to use http://osmand.net/ and http://www.mapdroyd.com/ but, alas with little avail. Fortunately for me it is not a problem as I have my old faithful and reliable Garmin with http://osmmtbmap.org installed which I can highly recommend for mountain-bikers and hikers.

Davos and surroundings

You must zoom right in to get the correct date.
e.g. it starts at 2004 but can be as recent as 2011 at the hihest zoom level

Vclaw's comment made me check openMTBmap for Bolivia. It is not provided so my suggestion is useless.
Sorry

Garmin

There are many, many ways to download OSM-Maps to Mapsource and from there to your Garmin device.
It very much depends on what you want to use the maps for: Driving, Bicycling, Mountain Biking or Rambling!
For the last three the easiest is to use the openMTBmap at
http://openmtbmap.org/download/
There is a deatailed, accurate, and extensive online documentation available on the pertinent web pages. It is brilliant but so are other providers.
Have fun and let me know if you require any further assistance about openMTBmap.

Have fun und nice to have you here!

Shernott, I agree with you. But, it's not worth getting angry: Just stay annoyed and move on: we are doing this for fun, aren't we?
