Es gibt keine pefektes Gerät für OSM. Aber Garmin Geräte sind genau genüg! Was aber fehlt für Daten Sammlung ist ein eingebautes Diktierfunktion und ein eingebautes Camera: i.e. Alle drei TimeStamps wären idententisch. Ein Traumgerät nicht wahr!

@SB79 Ich bin z.Zt. in Zypern. Mappe E4 (siehe http://hiking.waymarkedtrails.org/de/?zoom=10&lat=34.94042&lon=33.00914 ). Bin erst am 10.Dez. zu Hause. 4.Dienstag in Dez. fällt wahrscheinlich wegen Weihnachten aus; oder? Versuche in Jan.2013 vorbeizukommen.

Das kann ich nur bestätigen. Wie wäre es mit ein Übungs-Projekt in Potlach wobei ein fiktive Gebiet angezeigt wird mit alle erdenklichen Tags, Turn-Restrictions, Multipolygons und Relations, usw. Hier könnte dann jeder Newbie interaktiv mit OSM Daten arbeiten. Dies könnte in Schwierigkeitsstufen eingeteilt werden!

Es ist aber leider so das die meisten Menschen ein Gebrauchanleitungen nicht zuerst ganz zu ende lesen bevor sie Anfangen was zu tun. “Learning by doing” steht in Vordergrund bei OSM und nicht “Study first before editing”.

OSM bleibt daher ein “muddle-through” Projekt wo jeder macht was er will. Es ist auch so gewollt von OSMF! Das bedeutet nicht das es auf Dauer gut ist.

Sicherlich wollen sich die Newbies gute Arbeit leisten, aber nicht aller wollen Hinweise annehmen. Ich habe es wiederholt versucht. Meistens bekomme ich überhaupt keine Anwort auf ein Hinweis!

Lass uns erhlich sein. OSM stärker wird nie routing sein. Begrundung: Es gibt zu viel Newbies die von Relations keine Ahnung haben. Wiederholte fehlerhafte Ergänzungen/Änderungen sind daher vorprogramiert. Soweit ich weiss gibt es keine Sperre um Newbies zu stoppen bevor sie ein Fehler machen.

Ich müsste vor kurzen ein komplette Relation neu eingeben (from memory).

Wir werden naturlich immer unterschiedlichen Meinungen sein und das ist gut so. Meine Meinung liegt OSM stärker in Details, d.h. POIs, paths, tracks also Routen für Sportler (Ramblers, Horse Riding, MTB, Bicycle etc.)

Vorgestern habe ich mich auf OSN Autorouting verlassen und ein Stunde mehr Zeit gebraucht als nötig. Dann habe ich das Gerät ausgeschaltet und die Sonne als Navi benützt! For Autorouting kaufe liebe ein echtes Navi. Diese Aussage könnte sich aber ändern wenn OSMF die Newbies ein bisschen wenige erlauben!

Ich habe die Podcast zugehört, alle 60+ Minuten davon. “Der Troisdorfer” erlebt die gleichen misstrauen das wir alle erleben. Seinen “Ausreden” sind herrlich. Ich wird sie übernehemen.

Wer ist die älterste aktive OSMer? Es wäre schön das zu ermitteln, oder? Ich stelle mich vor “Der Troisdorfer” mit Geburtsjahr 1939. Ältere bitte melden!

OSM allows you to do just that which you want to do. Leave the rest to others who like collecting addresses, etc. So get on with it and have fun!

Great work, lads (and Ladies if any are involved). I have a street connected to an area=yes; highway=residential which is connected to a street. All have the same name. Is this an mapping error or a false positive?

Schutzhütten und Aussichten(viewpoint) sind unterschiedliche POI’s und sollten deswegen mit unterschiedliche nodes versehen werden.

Hotels werden auch nicht mit subjektive Werbe-Notizen wie z.B. “Mountain View” getagt werden.

Ich bin auch ein leidenschaftliche Wanderer.

Ich mache zwei nodes, ein für Aussicht und ein für Hütte.

I recalculated the route once again just now. No purple overlays. Unfortunately I did not take a snapshot of these purple overlays yesterday. It is just like your original post. NE2 registered something odd, iandees check and found nothing. Very strange indeed.

Anyway it is a very good tool and it should be accessible from the OSM Home Page, don’t you think?

This is a very interesting development and it works! I tested it from Bonn, Germany to Croydon, England. It is very usable! What I noticed is that the were a number of purple overlays which seem to indicate that a OSM data error hinders the correct routing.

Is this so?

Should I, as a contributor, try to correct these “errors”?

I agree with all the above statements but one in particular is worth a double mention.

Obviously a debate is needed on how to present OSM to newcomers who want to use the data for the own purposes. We who contribute to the DataBank are not relevant when it come to the introductory page.

The thing is, I don’t think that this Blog-Page is the right place to discuss/debate this issue, but I don’t know where to go to start a debate!

What I think may be a better approach would be to have something like this:

What would you like to see?

and using ICONS

Street map Routing Cycle map Rambling map Addresses POIs Public Transport Terrain Contribute to OSM DataBank etc.

The ICONS would then link to the best website providing this service.

I too agree with your thoughts. I, however, do not know how to tag certain barriers like a line of trees: In fact it may not even be a barrier as you can go through the line. Another tag I can’t find is one to map a grass verge, i.e. that area that may separate a field from a hedge, road, etc. I suppose landuse=grass will do the job well enough. But what do you do when a verge has been planted with bushes? natural=scrub does the job but it is not natural, is it?

Not only is the iPhone useless as a mapping tool, my newly acquired Samsung Galaxy is just as useless. If I am in an area of low population the inaccuracy can be up to 1km and in some cases I have no position data at all. As you say your faithful 60CSx does it all the time. So does mine!
