Hi
I will go to it tomorrow and will update anything I see that changed,

for the floating highways issue, it's just how it is in real life, the street is being deconstructed(surface is taken away, getting widen, adding another street on it's right) so marking it as construction=minor won't represent the construction correctly, it is somewhat of a mess right now, where cars have to go through the construction site to enter the gas station etc,

what do you suggest as a fix for this issue?

regards

Hi,

I go through this intersection everyday, last time I went is today, traffic coming in this way: osm.org/way/1202724659 ,is closed by a physical barrier, and it's directed to this road: osm.org/way/4210567 as a detour ,as I mentioned in my note. only traffic allowed is one way from this lane: osm.org/way/4210539 , how I mapped it is how it is in real life including removing and adding oneway tag, whatever"news" you're getting your information from is out dated and inaccurate,
Regards.

@woodpeck

Firstly, we want to assure you that our actions were not intended as part of a smear campaign against any individual. Our primary concern was to highlight what we perceived as problematic behavior that could potentially impact the well-being and privacy of community members. We believe in the importance of a safe and respectful environment for all OSM contributors, especially in Iraq, which, as you may know, is not necessarily the safest country in the world.

I personally do not want my location to be public regardless. I shared it with the OSM Iraq admins group, which consisted of 4 people, and these users have no right to disclose that in public. This breach of privacy is part of what motivated our actions, emphasizing the need for respectful handling of personal information within our community.

Moreover, the main reason for this discussion revolves around the issue with the naming of 77th St, which remains unresolved. This led us to seek the DWG's intervention for that reason after a long discussion with the user that led to nothing useful, according to all the sources and references mentioned above that have been overlooked.

We recognize, however, that our approach may have been misinterpreted and could have inadvertently caused undue alarm or concern. We apologize if this was the case and for any inconvenience it may have caused the DWG. It was not our intention to waste valuable resources or detract from the DWG's important work.

Regards.

@LockOnGuy, exposing where I live? Really? Is that how low you're going? That's absolutely unacceptable. It is a violation of my privacy and safety.

The purpose of the map I sent is to clarify the official name usage of this street, which is "Ameen Street," and to correct any misunderstanding that it might be an abbreviation for "Muhammad al-Amin". It's important to acknowledge that all government references and local people consistently use "77th Street" when referring to this street as can be seen by the refrences I provided in my previous message, a fact that appears to have been overlooked in your response.

Given this, it is imperative that "77th Street" be recognized as the primary name of the road on OpenStreetMap. The evidence supporting the usage of "77th Street" by both the government and the local people is undeniable and significant. Therefore, relegating "77th Street" to anything less than the primary name does a disservice to the accuracy and reliability of the map for its users. "Ameen Street," while historically significant, does not reflect the current, predominant usage and should therefore be listed as an alt_name.

Hello LockOnGuy,

This street is known as 77th Street "شارع 77" regardless if it's just the road number. Us local people and even the government refer to it by that name as shown by the following references:

Ministry of Planning: https://mop.gov.iq/archives/13805

Department of Roads and Bridges: https://turruqjissor.moch.gov.iq/2023/06/25/%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%A6%D8%B1%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B7%D8%B1%D9%82-%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%B5%D9%84-%D8%A7%D8%B9%D9%85%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%87%D8%A7-%D9%84%D9%8A%D9%84%D8%A7-%D9%88%D9%86%D9%87%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%A7//

Mayoralty of Baghdad: https://www.facebook.com/mayoralty.baghdad/videos/380796574228101/

Its official name is Ameen/Amin Street "شارع الأمين". It is not an abbreviation for Muhammad al-Amin; it was named that because it passes by Al Ameen quarter "حي الامين", which was named after Muhammad al-Amin, as can be shown in this map by the Mayoralty of Baghdad that shows the official name use: https://web.archive.org/web/20240110201616/https://api.amanatbaghdad.gov.iq/images/bfeea80c-715b-4b12-b176-66ffc5a16434.jpg

A road number or "ref=" being 77 is not enough for people to know or recognize that street by its famous well-known name, which is 77th Street.

As the wiki says, "if fewer people use a name in practice, even if it is signposted, it is better to put the official name in official_name=* or alt_name=* than to treat it as the primary name".

Hello StrzeleckiDesert,

Most of the highway=residential you added are alleys (too small for a car to access), therefore it should be mapped as:
highway=service
service=alley

Hi little_maper

My changes for this street are based on this map by the Mayoralty of Baghdad:

https://web.archive.org/web/20240110201616/https://api.amanatbaghdad.gov.iq/images/bfeea80c-715b-4b12-b176-66ffc5a16434.jpg

And also individual neighborhood maps along side Ameen Street, that specifiy the road name and number, like neighborhood: 706 ,759,777 and others.

I added ref tag to the bridge
osm.org/changeset/146251530#map=19/33.31940/44.48334

also do not try to edit streets based on the Mayoralty map, its not so accurate, if I didn't have the neighborhood maps i wouldn't have edited the street.

Regards

It would be nice of you if you communicate before you edit, so we can figure things out together

main roads definitely shouldn't be marked as unclassified, Baghdad have a master plan which specifically each and every road type. edits should be based on that.

Hey little_maper

71th St and 69th St are both marked as a "high speed road" in the official map of the neighborhood (which i have a copy of), therefore it should be marked that way on OSM.

the minor/unclassified roads that you made into residential were marked this way because they're illegal random roads that don't exist on the official map, therefore should be left that way.

I'd appreciate of you if you leave a comment on the changsets i make or message me before you decide to edit things out yourself, especially when you have no reference or local knowledge of the area.

thank you

145813774 over 1 year ago

the reason for the changset being this big is because I made a minor alignment to "الطريق الحلقي الرابع" near neighbourhood 766.
