137896094 | almost 2 years ago | Hey! Just re-read my message, and I'm sorry for being a blunt jerk about your areas :) I've had people write kinda grumpy notes to me, and it sucks, and I should have re-read it and written it in a less jerk-like manner. Thanks very much for your kind answer, and I don't think _you_ have anything to apologize for! From my experience, the kind of areas you're making are really common in the areas of BC I've been mapping, and I was mostly confused! I think it's partly the messy interconnections: like where the grassland / residential / commercial areas don't line up at all, cross each other, and seem to cross streets and buildings - but it's likely at least some of that is due to the satellite imagery changing, and you working at speed while zoomed out. It's for sure not just your edits that look this way, which is why I wanted to check in to find out what the source is and what the whole deal is since maybe you know a lot more than me! In the end, it sounds like it's totally ok for me to move those borders where I run into issues, and make changes if I find out a restaurant is marked as being in a residential area or something. I just figured that some of this data maybe came from the government or something, and maybe that's why it was so rough? But I guess not. As far as I know, satellite mapping is totally ok - at least it's what I've been doing a LOT of, when I'm not wandering around with streetcomplete. And too bad my guess about your name was wrong :) My grandma's from Enderby, which is why I love to map there. But it's a small place, so no wonder you're not actually from there! Thanks again for your answer, and I'm sure we'll run into each others' edits in the future! |
137896094 | almost 2 years ago | Hey Enderbyte99, I'm really confused by what you're trying to do with these zones. You have, eg, commercial areas on top of residential areas, all the areas are really messy and the boundaries don't make sense, etc. I'm pretty new to mapping in Canada, so I don't know if any of these actually make sense in the context? I've mapped bus stops and buildings and wind turbines mostly in Canada, but like... can you point me to some discussion or tell me what the sources are for what you're doing? Is it coming from some official source so you KNOW what's commercial and residential vs grassland? I see this super messy "areas" issue all over - including in Enderby where I also like to map - which is maybe where you're from from your name? I'd love to better understand the source, purpose, and regionally agreed-on convention for these kinds of things. Thanks! |
115585912 | almost 3 years ago | Ah, danke Hockie! Ich dachte da war die Papierform gemeint... bahh, jetzt soll ich wieder durch meine ganze alte Photos gehen, weil ich gehe davon aus ich habe mehrmals diese Fehler gemacht. |
75962686 | almost 6 years ago | I will do what I can! You're referring to all the other stations on the S-bahn, right? I just checked this station, but it's not shocking I made the same mistake elsewhere ;) I'll take a look tonight. Thanks again for the pointers! I hope to become a consistent and correct mapper soon :) |

75962686 | almost 6 years ago | Ah, looks like someone else got it already :) |
75962686 | almost 6 years ago | Thanks! I'll take a look at this and fix this tomorrow - unless you've already fixed it? |
