Do it right or not at all | @ Alexz No I did not. What I stated is that a priority is to correct mistakes made by others using Pot latch. The only person who has traced with GPS data is myself. I understand your frustrating with sat tracing over valid GPS data but please do not bring that to this conversation. For the record, when I came back to the map and noticed the high resolution imagery I did a two day four track calibration test to see if the imagery is accurate - it is. The track you refer too was made by myself using a Nokia N95. Damned good but with an offset I could never fix. And the whole crux of this is that I would have my feet on the road mapping - but am clearing up others mess. |

Do it right or not at all | @ alexz Did I imply there was not? |

Edit war looming | Not reqruiting as I am trying to get the existing contributors to do it correctly. Having said that I have had enormous help from so many people driving me around collating street named and such like that it's as if I have a large team. |

Edit war looming | @ Wynndale. No they are not. They have been changed. @ chriscf. Posative. Did all the village names years ago. All are in Turkish. As pointed out to Wynndale it's a case of not following the on the ground rule and respecting the original edits. @ Richard. No, we cannot invent detail but we can give a better view of what we have. JOSM does this. But, as stated in my entry, this is but a small factor - sloppy editing is the main culprit. I do so wish that editors would take into account that OSM data is fun but serious stuff as well. Used in navigation, it is essential that edits reflect conditions. I have corrected ways that have straddled buildings - I kid you not! |
