US/Canada border

Postat per djo0012 a 1 de mai 2009 en English

maybe it's because of the automated import (tiger for US and recently geobase for Canada) but the border is there 4 times at many place. I took a random place between Montana and Alberta ( osm.org/?lat=48.9952&lon=-110.647&zoom=14&layers=0B00FTF ) where I get those way:
osm.org/browse/way/15808114
osm.org/browse/way/30114504
osm.org/browse/way/24307864
osm.org/browse/way/16799216

so as I understand there is
one from national US border from tiger
one for the county border(source = county_import_v0.1_20080508235444)
one for the Alberta border from geobase
and finally one thats got almost everything (well except county) and as been make manually

to add to this there is almost 200 meter between the 2 farthest wich cause problem as some place (a street between theme...)

so what can we do about that, it more than 5000 km of border (and I didn't check the Alaska or any other border from US or Canada, but I looked in Europe and there haven't any problem like that?

Saint Pierre and Miquelo

Postat per djo0012 a 29 d’abrial 2009 en English

I was looking at the map from distance and I found that Saint Pierre and Miquelo (
osm.org/browse/node/249399410 )is considered as a country which is false AFAIK ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Pierre_and_Miquelon ) but thing is I don't know what to say either since it is in reality a Territorial Collectivity, so I thought it might be considered as a state, but I'm not sure about it.

osmarender and under water tunnel

Postat per djo0012 a 19 d’octòbre 2008 en English

I just found two bug in the osmarender rendering wiht underwater tunnel I don't know if it has already been reported (neighteir than where is the bug list) but the bug is that the renderer seem to place the tunnel on a lower layer then the water so we doesn't see the tunnel when it's in the water, also the name of splitted way shouldn't be written on both of the way since it's look like their is shadow under the name (which make it hard to read)

starting to map eastern montreal (canada)

Postat per djo0012 a 6 de setembre 2008 en English

I've start to map the eastern montreal with yahoo picture but I'm now searching a cheap gps receiver so I could use geotagged picture to add all the feature around here and some pedestrian path that I cannot figure out on the yahoo map or that I did from memory (so not so precise).

so if anyone have a clue of were to find a little gps receiver (bluetooth would be preferable but usb is just fine) the I could use with my laptop (linux or windows but I prefere linux since some pluggin of JSON doesn't work well on win)

thanks for help if you can.
