Progress in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Апублікавана карыстальнікам domoszg 3 Студзень 2013 на мове EnglishWhen I started working on OSM in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I found that much data throughout the country was already mapped, but it was mostly very poorly organised, inconsistent and mapped and tagged very carelessly. So I contacted some of the users from BIH who were active at the time and we started working on the Wikiproject. Shortly after we’ve opened the forum, IRC channel and a Facebook fan page. All this enabled us to gather all the important data, document it and organise vital map information all over the country.
Currently the BIH Wikiproject hosts information about the most important roads, administrative boundaries, some public transport data and much more. It is also aimed toward beginner users as help in finding their way through the OSM project.
Thanks to the work of user alenmahovic we joined the list of few countries with imported Corine land cover data.
Although we’re finding the aquisition of the official infrastructural and other data to be very difficult, we strive to keep all the current data organised and consistent. I invite all the users in the BIH region to join the editing of the Wikiproject and map data. There are parts of BIH that are still not covered by any current and reliable source, and with very few GPS traces. There’s still a lot of work to do and we hope to bring as many users to editing and using OSM map data.
Happy editing! :)
