Version 6502 of JOSM has just been released as new tested version.

been wondering if it is possible for JOSM to download an area that also includes the bing imagery for later offline edit/trace?

Kudos to the JOSM devs. Keep it up :)
@kucai You can pre-load an area by moving around, and then untick “auto-load tiles” when you go offiline. I suspect that any script to do this automatically would violate Bing’s usage policy.

Thank You!
for all the work you developers bring into JOSM.
Though I sometimes rant about decisions I abhor or pretty old bugs I am thankful for your efforts to enhance JOSM.
Lately I was surprised positively as I found the source= field on the first tab of the upload window.
Long since I had vaguely considered filing an enhancement for this certain feature but small expectation of success combined with only little need for this feature kept me from doing so.
In this regard -
