About Me and OpenStreetMap
I’m an active contributor to OpenStreetMap with a focus on Italy, believing in the power of open data and the strength of community-driven mapping.
My interests range from improving hiking and outdoor data to developing custom tools and maps for Garmin GPS devices. Recently, I have also been dedicating myself to completing the mapping of towns and villages in my region — places I’ve always known or visit for work or leisure. It’s disappointing to find so little on OSM when you happen to be around there !
My main goal is to enhance the completeness and quality of the map. Although I prefer to work in unmapped areas, sometimes I may edit features previously mapped by others or make mistakes. My approach is always constructive — I never intend to criticize others’ work or contribute superficially. In this spirit, I welcome any respectful and constructive feedback aimed at continuous improvement.
Although I have completed several thousand changesets and contribute actively almost every day, I recognize there is always more to learn — from both experienced mappers and newcomers to the Project.
Mapping is not just a hobby. The potential uses of open data are endless, and the possibilities offered by OpenStreetMap are enormous. The fact that it’s all free and maintained by a global community of volunteers is both fascinating and revolutionary. Another reason why it’s so hard to stop…
I also collaborate with the Neo Economy Rovas platform, where my OSM changesets are directly integrated and verified by the community. Rovas automatically generates reports based on daily work sessions, combining multiple changesets. Each report must be validated by two other users before it is approved and translated into credits (“chrons”) based on the mapping time. Quality assurance is carried out through the integration of tools like OSMCha and Overpass Achavi to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data. These tools allow for peer review and error checking, helping to maintain high standards and improve the overall quality of the mapping efforts. Join us !
