Learning things.... | I assume you filled in your OpenStreetMap username and password under “basic authentication” in the settings window, not your google account. |
Setting up JOSM | Nice job, BTW, OAuth is available in JOSM tested 9329. I just enabled it after seeing your videos :-) |
ET do Independence Day | Sorry for the English: I wonder why you need the one-way “road” on the top ? |
Issue with road in cycle view | Is it possible that the problem has been fixed in the meantime ? Perhaps the rendering on the cycle view is still using old data. |
Val d'Or Residential Roads | I fear there is not a lot you can do. The imagery is most likely provided by Bing. It all depends when they add or update imagery. You might try to get in contact with the local community (e.g. via https://twitter.com/OsmMaroc) to see whether they have a solution for your problem. For some countries other imagery is available, but not always via the iD editor. |

Re-tagging picnic sites with leisure=picnic_site and amenity=picnic_site to tourism=picnic_site | Please note that is considered a mechanical edit (you do not visit all those places in person). Hence you have to follow the mechanical edit procedure: osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct o.a. you will have to consult the local communities to see whether they agree with the proposed change. Not everybody agrees with the content of the wiki. A blog post such as this is not considered the correct way to connect to the local communities I’m pretty sure that e.g. the British community will oppose to any edit of this kind (at least a few vocal persons in that community) You will also need a page such as osm.wiki/Automated_edits/Math1985/Musical_instrument, a dedicated account, etc. This comment is not to prevent you from doing it, just informing you about the possible “dangers” along the way. |

Data and community in the Belgian regions | @philippec, I still see Mapillary as an aid to mapping, one of the many possible, not a goal on itself. It’s not because there are a lot of pictures found for a particular area, that the OpenStreetMap data are complete or up-to-date. I rather see people mapping stuff than taking pictures :-) Remember that Mapillary is not OpenStreetMap. Furthermore I almost stopped contributing to Mapillary because there is not a lot of benefit for me. |

Unterwegs auf Neuen Wegen | Nice pictures, number 2 is my favorite |

A Mapper in the Spotlight: Dave Swarthout (USA/Thailand) | Sorry to hear that Warin61. Didn’t know that surveying for OSM was dangerous. |
A Mapper in the Spotlight: Dave Swarthout (USA/Thailand) | My pleasure primej, I learned already a few things about Thailand thanks to Dave |
Japan road alignment - Taking it further | Of course with the “m” key it depends on the order in which you select the nodes, which road keeps its layout |
Japan road alignment - Taking it further | Great work and nice write-up of the different JOSM actions that can be used. I prefer the “n” key over “m” or “j” to attach a node to another way, as it keeps the layout of the way. |

A Mapper in the Spotlight: Clifford Snow | Alan, I’m glad you liked my choice. I think I’ve met several interesting people on the mailing lists and fora, so it was hard to pick a first one. |

Getting to know the OSM editors |
As for the overpass API, there was a Google Code of Summer project were a student developed a platform to learn Overpass: http://osmlab.github.io/learnoverpass In case you have problems mapping something, http://help.openstreetmap.org is a good place to start looking for answers. You could also try to get in touch with your local community. They might be using a mailing list, forum, Facebook page, IRC, etc. You’re not alone. Don’t be shy to ask questions. Happy mapping |
POI nodes with over 100 tags | Seems like you can add a lot of tags (126) to a lighthouse: osm.org/node/1534458308 :-) |
Hello [OSM]world! | Welcome Tom. Good to see you have a good time mapping |
Mid-August Mapathon: Inputting Field Papers Data from Zimbabwe and Bangladesh into JOSM | looking forward to read your “Meet the Mappers”. I really enjoy this type of articles. We try to do something similar in Belgium. |

CLC06 Import Cleanup Part Two | nice job ! |

What are the Benefits of GPS Tracking | A lot of traces can help one to align aerial images. They are not always aligned up with the reality. There are also places where you cannot see the path or road on the aerial images, e.g. in forests. Maybe you can also read the answer to https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/45039/how-to-deal-with-gps-accuracy-problems-mapping-in-london |
