Decided that given I've mapped all of my current traces, I'd do a few of the larger outback lakes in Western Australia. JOSM and LandSat are playing up on my pooter, so potlatch and Yahoo ended up beinghte tools of choice.
Kind of easy and mindless mapping the lake edges...

You might want to look into the lakewalker plugin for JOSM. Not used it myself but I believe it helps automate this process.
