Changeset When Comment

Please do not do test edits to the map, people depend on the accuracy of the data. This will be reverted.

This appears to be fictional mapping. Please refrain from making such changes to the map.

Welcome to OSM!
It looks like someone already got to it and removed the name, but as a learning experience, when we draw things, we don't add so called "generic" names to a feature like naming a basketball court "Basketball" - it's redundant. Again don't worry about it, someone already took care of it, but just wanted to let you know why it changed and what the best practices are.
Keep on drawing!

Hi,
Some anonymous person left a note at osm.org/note/3695499 pointing me that your edit ended up drawing a road on top of another road. This can cause routers to get confused. It looks like you were trying to perhaps upgrade Willow Pass from secondary to primary? Could you run this by others in the area whether this should be upgraded (I am not from the area) - but the overlapping road will need to be fixed soon... Thanks.

Hi, thanks for joining OpenStreetMap!
I would have to make the comment that we shouldn't be putting temporary or unmarked-on-ground objects in the map. It clutters things especially if it becomes disused due to abandonment of these temporary things and people forget about it, leading to a lot of confusion and junk on the map.

Hi, in note osm.org/note/3690682 there was a lot of violations that showed up in this changeset, as I'm not local I have to rely on imagery and this road does not appear to be dual carriageway for the whole length. Was this changed recently beyond the available satellite imagery?

In my opinion, probably did not have to change this for the construction that's happening on I-25. Yes it's more accurate but it will be changed back when construction is complete pretty close to what it was before. Granted this construction is indeed taking several years so it's a candidate, but I hope that when it's all done it gets changed back speedily...

Not sure, they are way too small for tennis. Seems you already changed it to regular tennis, but not sure if it's still tagged properly, they should have some other tag...

osm.org/note/3674874

While it is true there are dedicated turn lanes I don't think they should be explicitly drawn like they here because there are no physical blockages between the lanes (a solid line doesn't count). This is because of the additional artificial "intersections" especially that left turn lane adding unnecessary complexity.

I went ahead and cleaned up the rest of the way in osm.org/changeset/135677035 -- The gate needs to be on the way that it needs to impede and the bicycle/foot tags were superfluous with access=no.
Hopefully routers will stop using this gate now.

I'm not sure who okayed test edits, but people shouldn't be doing test ("knowingly false data") or learning edits on active data. Please remove any experimental data as soon as possible.

reverted node osm.org/node/2597907064 as it contained more recent information about the shop

Is this supposed to be Priest Boulevard or Preist Boulevard? TIGER says the former (as well as it's the common spelling of the clergy, though this has no bearing of whether it's spelled right or wrong.)

and I think it's big 20/20 aftersight mistake at this point... Perhaps someone who views this as important to maintain needs to think of a better system so that it's less of a maintenance issue going onwards, for both editors and software. I can definitely see people accidentally adding businesses to buildings when they should be nodes (since the buildings in NYC are all multi-use) and people will keep extracting them to fix this, pulling building specific data over and over again... then who knows if Washington, DC or Tokyo also has a system like this and end up with their own washdchud:bin tag...
Just saying...

134832158 over 2 years ago

TBH tags like this that are specifically related to buildings should have a building:xyz tag so that they can more easily be known by software they should be for the building instead of related to the contents/use of the building like a shop or residential.
Perhaps a new system should be made so that it does not depend on the user editing to maintain these, the way I see it now is that it's both hard for a person and a computer to maintain these.

134832158 over 2 years ago

oops yeah that is too easy to miss unfortunately, I guess this requires someone real familiar to the buildings around here to know about that. Alas the extraction was needed, seems all these buildings have apartments on the upper floors and businesses on the ground level.
Then again what about the buildings like 69 MalcomX, not sure what the nycdoitt:bin should be for this building? (not sure why it was not there in the first place...)

The note had a streetcomplete photograph of the banner, and based on that information I was able to search remainder of information via orthogonal internet searches.
