54236399 | over 7 years ago | Nice cleanup. I think the tagging is not consistent with other houses in the Lancaster area though: the convention which seems to be predominant here is to tag the individual areas for each half of a semi as building=house rather than building=semidetached_house. If you were to draw one area for the entire semi (and not split it), that would be tagged as building=semidetached_house. (But that’s not recommended: splitting them is better since then they can have separate numbering and addresses.) building=detached seems to not be used around here; building=house is used instead. |
53753606 | almost 8 years ago | No need to duplicate the name as a description. |
53638179 | almost 8 years ago | Whoops, thanks for pointing that out. Fixed. I don’t know about the tourist information centre; this was an armchair edit based on e-mailing Herdy for their new address. If I get a chance to wander down to Stramongate I’ll keep an eye out for the tourist information centre, but it won’t be soon. |
53464234 | almost 8 years ago | I think these need to be changed to building=house to be consistent with the rest of Lancaster. I’ve always been considering building=semi as only suitable for the outline of the entire building (before it’s split in two). osm.wiki/Tag:building%3Dsemi is not very helpful on that point though, so it’s a matter of local consensus rather than anything else. |
53367686 | almost 8 years ago | Can you please use more descriptive changeset descriptions than ‘recent local info’. Doing so makes it easier for other contributors to see what your changeset does, out of the list of recent changesets. Thanks. |
53267684 | almost 8 years ago | When was it re-routed? Are these Mapillary images still relevant? https://www.mapillary.com/app/?lat=54.39510819999998&lng=-2.9230128000000377&z=17&pKey=tFVjjGT7imBo538aI65P_Q&focus=photo Sounds like the cycle lane needs to be reinstated on the A591 (but not as part of the NCN6 relation). I’d probably do it as a separate cycleway way since it diverges from the road a bit by Brockholes, and that would keep it consistent with the cycleway between Ings and Windermere. For the moment, this is all left as a fixme tag on the remaining bit of cycleway, so I don’t forget about it. |
53267684 | almost 8 years ago | The cycle path (non-segregated pavement on the west side) on the A591 needs some work still. Needs a re-survey to work out which bits are cycle path and which bits are foot-only, and whether any of it is NCN6 any more. Probably best to move it into a separate way and set sidewalk=separate on the A591. |
53210135 | almost 8 years ago | building=house is a bit more specific than building=residential, so you could use that to impart a bit more information. See: osm.wiki/Tag:building%3Dresidential |
53177046 | almost 8 years ago | I fixed the courtyard building near the bypass to use a multipolygon relation here: osm.org/changeset/53177905 |
53174649 | almost 8 years ago | Thanks for the updates; these look like good contributions. However, can you please provide more descriptive edit comments than ‘Update’? For example, ‘Add more buildings and fences to White Lund industrial area’. That allows other people to easily see what each changeset does, at a glance. Thanks. |
53066190 | almost 8 years ago | That seems reasonable! |
53066190 | almost 8 years ago | Hi, I think tagging the houses’ gardens with leisure=garden is not quite correct, since that implies they’re public gardens (like a park), not private ones. I looked into how to tag individual house plots a while ago, and concluded that it wasn’t worthwhile: it takes a lot of effort, and the results confuse rendering and other consumers of the data. The best solution I came up with was to explicitly put in any relevant fence lines to indicate which roads the houses are accessed via. |
53131932 | almost 8 years ago | Wow, nice work! |
53155005 | almost 8 years ago | Nice. #CumbriaRoads work? |
52926170 | almost 8 years ago | Nice one! |
52694565 | almost 8 years ago | Hmm, this is a tricky one to tag. I think the tags as they currently stand – fee=no maxstay=2h – are the most appropriate I can come up with. They are correct, in that the first 2h are free. If people choose to park there, they should see the big signs explaining what this Frog Permit system is, and realise they can potentially extend their stay. What do you two think? pamman, please do add descriptions to your changes in future to give rationale to other editors for your changes. (Or at least a summary so when we’re looking at the list of edits, we can see quickly what each edit is.) Thanks. |
52694565 | almost 8 years ago | From a private message from pamman: > With reference to Mill Yard, Staveley the intention was to make users aware that parking can no longer be regarded as free. During weekdays the first 2 hours are free after that a “Frog Permit” is required, apparently if you are not a frog you’re . . . . . . toad and nobody likes to be towed! so a “Frog permit” must be obtained from the business being visited. Weekends still remain free. |
15006292 | almost 8 years ago | Thanks for the information. I agree that the name Jakey Tanners should be in the map, but I don’t think it should be the canonical name of the road. The canonical name according to the modern naming databases (the OS Location database and the Royal Mail address database) is Brigsteer Road. As lakedistrict says, this is a good candidate for the loc_name tag. Do you want to re-edit the map and add loc_name=Jakey Tanners? You could also add the source:loc_name tag with a brief description of where the name’s sourced from, to prevent future confusion. |
52894809 | almost 8 years ago | Thanks, I didn’t have time to do a proper survey of the north end of the development. |
15006292 | almost 8 years ago | Indeed. I was also wondering whether Jakey Tanners is the name of the track to the SE just E of the A591 bridge. |
