You might be interested in http://openstreetview.org/ too, I'll have to take a look at archive.org to see if there's any way to work with what they're doing.

You can geotag photos by embedding lat/lon etc in the exif

Thanks John,
But if I knew the lat long the I would not have to upload them for review.
I would like to work my way through these pictures and place them on the map.
I guess when I have the positions I can upload them to openstreetview.

All of my OSM photos have been taken whilst I've had my GPS with me. There are several pieces of software out there that can automatically add lat/lon to exif based on a GPX file and using the time-stamps in the exif.

All of those kosovo photos I took with no gps. I covered every intersection without break. I hope to reconstruct the map from them.
I think that we need tools to to mapping without gps.
