Here are some points :
# OSM-people are full with work and probably won't contribute (but maybe help)
# Also for other software (i. e. Drupal) the OSM-plugins aren't as advance as Google's stuff

I think its quite easy to add OSM maps to the Google Maps API. So then you'd have the choice of using whatever is best for your area, with needing to change much on the website.
