Borderline

Verfasst von hal9 am 30. Januar 2009 in English

Hello,

there is a strange Problem i accidentally discovered on the German-Czech borderline
(in my case 1km north of hranice a small Bordertown in the northwestern Part of Czechia)
On the Borderline it reads "Österreich" which was true till 1918 - so i think its time to change that ;-).
The only Problem is i have no idea how - maybe someone could give me a clue or change this into Česka Repúblika

It's strange: there's two borders in the mapnik render, and the one with Österreich on it doesn't correspond to a way in the data layer. Either it's already been fixed, or this is some boundary data mapnik is pulling from elsewhere. Osmarender doesn't appear to have this problem.

Using the metacarta up-to-date bookmarklet the Österreich label disappears. That may mean it's already been fixed or the official version of Mapnik might be doing something strange that metacarta isn't.

OK it looks like there are two Borderlines - the more accurate one has been imported from here:

osm.wiki/Import/Catalogue/Kreisgrenzen_Deutschland_2005

while the "Austrian" one is not visible in the Editor and looks like it consists of 2 Layers, one darker
which correctly shows de-cz while the other a little bit blurred line shows the wrong country.
so it looks like its some sort of Orientation-Overlay which will be removed some time.
Another good Example is near Mähring,Oberpfalz on the Border crossing of The ST2173 -
here even the accurate line shows the Österreich-Overlay.
