Thank you so much for these comments. I hope we can incorporate all of them. It has been a real learning experience with a lot of, in retrospect, obvious things that we missed. I am most grateful for learning with this community. I think with what we learn here we can make it so much better for in-person conferences too. We have also had other conferences asking us about how it went so this feedback is very useful for the whole FOSS community.

I also agree with you that IRC is the best! We take note of the need for better linking, and I was not aware the pads needed a lot of loading up front, I thought they would be lite - we should look into a good alternative. The pads worked very well so we need linking and loading them to be easier.

The social challenges are large and we saw people creating these sort of rooms you suggest, but we should do more to initiate and encourage these. Thanks for these useful thoughts.
