New feature: Easily add new maps to your menu!

@jidanni The sites should propagate after version 0.15.0 if you have Configuration sync enabled for this extension. Announced at osm.org/user/jgpacker/diary/393758

New major feature: Create your own links!

Fair enough! I have added {osm_tag_key} and {osm_tag_value} in 0.14.2. I still am struggling to understand what should be in the default list of websites, so you will need to add wiki, taginfo and so on to be able to use them:

  • https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:{osm_tag_key}
  • https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:{osm_tag_key}%3D{osm_tag_value}
  • https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/{osm_tag_key}
  • https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/tags/{osm_tag_key}={osm_tag_value}

Please report any bug by a direct message or in Github. (e.g. URL encoding might be an issue at the moment).

About your question: {osm_tag_key} can be used by itself or with any other parameters. I am trying to make this as intuitive&flexible as possible.

New major feature: Create your own links!

Great!

Yes, I am planning to add some other parameters like {bbox_min_latitude}.

I can also add {osm_tag_key} and/or {osm_tag_value} if they are useful. They were actually supported in the beginning of the project, but they were only used for OpenStreetMap Wiki and Taginfo (and both these websites already have links to each other), so they were removed.

New feature: Easily add new maps to your menu!

Unfortunately not yet, but it’s on the backlog! :-)

OSM Smart Menu now attempts to recognize any website

@Thomas8122 Thanks for the suggestion. I added it and it will be available in the next version (0.7.7)

Harry Wood admin abuse. Do we need him as admin at wiki???

“Choose to be kind over being right and you’ll be right everytime.” ― Richard Carlson

The quote above is especially true when talking about open communities made by volunteers like OSM. That’s because if people are not kind to each other, then they won’t be able to work together, and the community will crumble.

Bom trabalho! (Great job!)

Relato do Encontro OSM Brasília - Janeiro/2015

Veja no wiki a categoria Region specific tag

Learn-a-tag: driving_side=left/right

Oh, by the way, it’s more common to see an inverted driving side in parking aisles than in normal streets.

Learn-a-tag: driving_side=left/right

Yes, they can be pretty rare, but definitely exist. All of the cases I personally saw had pretty visible signs and markings; and were in particular circunstances that made the traffic flow better (it’s hard to describe).

Mapping public transport in Belgium

Hi, as far as I understood the reference codes are for public transport systems in a specific country, correct? Lately there is a trend to add a prefix to country-specific tags, such as ref:FR:NAF for a reference code specific to France. I believe the country code for Belgium is BE, so the reference codes would be ref:BE:TECC, ref:BE:De_lijn and so on. (this is only a suggestion)

One more comment: would it make sense to use ref:BE:TEC:C=* instead of ref:BE:TECC=* ?

Mapillary

Since it seems this key is being used now, I went ahead and create a wiki page for it: osm.wiki/Key:mapillary Please complement it when you can.

The order/thinking/philosphy/system of OSM tags?

Indeed these tags were created in a decentralized way, without much coordination. I’m afraid it’s impossible to change the most popular tags, even if the resulting scheme made some sense. That’s because a considerable number of data consumers (the services that use OSM) depend on some tags being the way they are right now. New proposed tags are encouraged to follow the same scheme as previous tags.

Learn-a-tag: leisure=fitness_station

@pizzaiolo I don’t think there is a tag for this right now, but I guess you could add elderly=yes. Be sure to add the name of the place, if available.

Editing with Overpass and Level0

@joost This method would normally be seen as a mechanical edit because the user doesn’t analyze each object and makes automatic changes instead, but the particular action he made isn’t a problem, considering the reasons he describes at end of his post.

OSM Hackerspaces Map now updating

@rorym note that you are using the key note=* for the description text of the hackerspace instead of the key description=*.

Learn-a-tag: highway=escape

@Diomas Thanks, I changed the post like you suggested.

Rising participation in the discussion of tag definitions

Very nice to see this nabble interface.

I still think that a forum would be a better tool for this kind of high-diversity and high-traffic discussion as done in the tagging mailing list.

Also, I personally think wikis are very clunky tools for discussions.

Voting is bullshit

See osm.org/user/jgpacker/diary/28266 for a related discussion.
