71020462 | about 6 years ago | Hi Elizabeth Zimina -- I've mentioned this before but please, please stop adding these spammy tags.
The "note" tag is for adding information relevant to other mappers. It's not supposed to be a jumble of keywords. A good use would be "I'm adding this company but have not surveyed in person, please confirm location." It's great to add new companies to the map, but you're not doing these businesses any favors when you abuse the tagging system. Personally I'm happy to continue patiently eradicating your spam, but others are not so patient and will simply delete anything you add. Thanks, jmapb |
70903276 | about 6 years ago | Hi Cadrion, thanks for your contributions. I've reverted these particular changes though (with changeset 70928485) because this isn't the correct use of "name" for a building. The name field is not for the address -- these buildings are already tagged with addresses, but if you want to add or fix an address, use the address fields, not the name field. The name field is also not for adding notes about who lives at a particular house. This is considered private information and not suitable for this map, which is published worldwide. Let me know if you have any questions, I'm happy to help. Thanks, jmapb |
70903423 | about 6 years ago | reverted in 70928387 |
69835850 | about 6 years ago | I've removed this node. If this is a real office and really located near here, please re-add it in the correct location. |
70550197 | about 6 years ago | Hi AnnaTai.... please, please stop adding these landuses for individual stores. That's not what they're for. Also, please don't ignore these changeset comments. OpenStreetMap is a community project and communication with your fellow mappers is key to producing an excellent map. Please contact me if you have any questions. |
70506665 | about 6 years ago | Hi AnnaTai, welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for your contributions. I'm a mapper active in NYC and noticed this changeset. You've drawn a building:
Best I can tell, it's the same building and the one you were trying to add was already on the map. It would be best if you could remove this duplicate building -- or if you prefer, I can do it for you. I'm also happy to help with any question you have about the map, in NYC or otherwise. Thanks, jmapb |
70320917 | about 6 years ago | Hi AnnaTai, welcome to OpenStreetMap! Thanks for your contributions. I'm a mapper active in NYC and noticed this changeset. You've added a landuse=industrial area called "DUMBO area." This isn't quite correct, since this area is not really industrial anymore. Many years ago it was, but now it's quite mixed with a lot of residential units, restaurants, retail, parks, theaters, etc. In general in NYC we avoid using landuse for mixed areas. DUMBO is considered a neighborhood rather than a landuse, and in fact is already marked as a neighborhood:
It would be best if you could remove this incorrect landuse -- or if you prefer, I can do it for you. I'm also happy to help with any question you have about the map, in NYC or otherwise. Thanks, jmapb |
70189529 | about 6 years ago | Hi lizy_busy -- again, as in the previous changeset I commented on ( osm.org/changeset/69764247 ) you've added a building that's already exists on the map as two separate buildings. As I requested last time, it would be great if you could delete the new outline you drew ( osm.org/way/689649248 ) as well as the previous one I mentioned ( osm.org/way/687051286 ). If you need help with this please let me know. Please don't simply ignore these messages -- OpenStreetMap is a community project and communication with your fellow mappers is key to creating and maintaining an excellent map. Thanks, jmapb |
59672519 | about 6 years ago | Partially reverted in 70149319, fixing accidentally dragged bus depot and distorted building footprints |
64037418 | about 6 years ago | Seriously? Why do I bother adding a fixme if you're just going to ignore it and delete it? Please communicate with local mappers, don't just override them blindly. Thanks, jmapb |
70000887 | about 6 years ago | Hi brandonbds, welcome to Openstreetmap! I'm a mapper active in the NYC area and noticed this changeset. I saw that you added the tag "bicycle:oneway=yes" to Reade Street. Just wanted wanted to let you know that this is not necessary to add for a street that's already tagged oneway=yes. The presumption is that bicycles follow the general rule, unless there are signs or road markings to the contrary. (Ie, if a oneway street allows bikes in both directions, or a twoway street allows bike only one way.) The tag you added is not incorrect, but it's not necessary. Just an FYI to save you time in the future. Let me know if you have any problems or questions -- I'm happy to advise or assist. jmapb |

69835850 | about 6 years ago | Hi joshuamorgan123, welcome to Open Street Map! What's the nature of this item? Is there an office here that clients can visit? Also, what's the correct address? Your website says 71 Brooklyn Ave but the node you added is across the street from that address. Thanks, jmapb |
69054454 | over 6 years ago | Thanks northtron! I try not to click on Google links but I'll trust you. I was just wondering 1) is it really there? [as mapman44 says that depends on the imagery dates] 2) is it underground? [presumably not] and 2) should it be squared? ['cause it's a little off square]. But I'll leave this alone for now. Happy mapping! |
69054454 | over 6 years ago | Hi northtron! This substation isn't visible in any aerial imagery. Is it underground? |
69764247 | over 6 years ago | Hi lizy_busy -- the building you've drawn here is already on the map. (Actually it's mapped as two buildings, osm.org/way/280627784 and osm.org/way/280627859 .) It would be great if you could delete the new outline you drew for these buildings: osm.org/way/687051286 If you need help with this please let me know. Thanks, jmapb |
69740828 | over 6 years ago | Hi Plooge, seems you tagged the entire riverbank on both sides as a marina, not the docks. Reverted in changeset 69749385. PS The proper tag for an individual pier is man_made=pier, like this: osm.org/way/450283318

69702134 | over 6 years ago | Gotcha. |
69702134 | over 6 years ago | Howdy PeanutButterRemedy... what's the justification for deleting this architect? I understand that the tagging wasn't perfect, but because (from the website) this appears to be a real business actually at this address, my inclination would be to fix the tagging and let it be. If later found to be unverifiable, it would be deleted. It may well have been added by an SEO firm working on the architect's behalf -- but unless the information is wrong, I don't see why it deserves deletion without survey. J |
69474153 | over 6 years ago | Seriously though, what basis is there for moving the name label location to the town hall location for 6 different cities all across the country with vastly different geography? |
