Hey Russ,
I've noticed this 5-meter wide road (107405595) with front access to multiple residences has been tagged correctly for 13 years.
While I understand this specific change might be a mistake, there are many reports of narrow residential classifications you've adjusted over the years.
Can we work together to figure this out once and for all? Appreciate your support in resolving this:

ok thanks for the clarifications! legal access tags are usually only for signs, and they can be hard to maintain, and confusing to other mappers. I will change these to highway=footway which is exactly for this purpose. Cheers, Julien

Hi Megaemce! Thank you for your amazing contributions in Chiang Mai.
I am currently doing some cleanup where legal access tags may be unnecessary, and came across many of your highway=path+horse=no+bicycle=no. What kind of ways are these? Are they actual sign forbidding bicycle/horses? or they could be simply tagged as highway=footway with the same effect ?
Cheers, Julien

Hi PonPan, thanks for your contributions! Please note that narrow roads only accessible to motorcycles should be tagged with highway=path + width=X, and not highway=service+service=alley. You can find more info about it in the Thailand wiki and the forum. Keep up the great work!

FYI I downgraded new unclassified segment to residential as it is too narrow compared to nearby 2 lanes unclassified, and adjusted lanes and width tags accordingly for your reference.

Also adding a clear description makes it easier for others to review your changes.

Hi Thanawutdd,
Thanks for your contributions and keep up the great work!
I noticed you added roads in Chiang Mai as highway=living_street. However, living_street isn't commonly used in Thailand due to the lack of relevant legislation. I've changed the tags to highway=residential as per the Thailand wiki recommendation (osm.wiki/WikiProject_Thailand#Urban_and_Local_Road_not_wide_enough_for_motor_cars).
For future reference, consider using highway=residential for streets with multiple residential houses and highway=service + service=driveway for single-building access.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns.

Hi Napittha, please remember to include the width tag when you have the information. Legal access tags such as motorcar=no should only be used if signed, and they're unnecessary for motorcycle paths. I've made the adjustment accordingly.

The changeset 146856297 was reverted because of a conflicting wall and the inability to establish a connection from the satellite imagery. Please kindly make these kind of changes based on local knowledge / ground photography only. Thank you!

Hey SLV_osm, thanks for your contributions! I merged your node with another nearby point of sale which had an invalid location. Just a heads up, in Thailand, we tag fuel vending machines as amenity_vending_machine + vending=fuel. Hi Enjennies, I have removed your ford=yes node addition and replaced it with a bridge section which is clearly visible from imagery. Always study the wiki first, and feel free to ask if you are not sure.

Hello Dave, appreciate the photo. I've noticed roads with lanes shorter than 4 meters too! In such instances, I suggest that borderline cases skip the lanes tag and opt for specifying the width instead. I've sought clarification on the forum, but uncertain if I'll receive a response:

Hey Dave, just wanted to give you a heads up about that road I was mentioning (30477989).

https://www.google.com/maps/@18.8122254,99.0074324,3a,75y,257.97h,78.94t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sTuELMz8w-dcBZvfOXIHRMw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu
(Also available on Mapillary)

It's a 4-meter-wide road that can fit two cars, but after checking with the global OSM community, the consensus is to use only the lane_markings=no tag for ambiguous cases.
You can catch up on the vote thread here: https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/when-should-the-lanes-tag-be-applied/107864

To keep things clear in the future, I'll be using lanes_marking=no + width=X + source:width=estimated for similar cases. Just wanted to keep you in the loop.

Cheers, Julien

Hi Russ, keeping it brief: I've initiated a forum discussion for additional input on this matter. While your extensive OSM experience is highly regarded, it's essential to consider community reviews and decisions. Appreciate your understanding. Julien
