- Promoted roads from residential to tertiary based on having a painted centerline. Not feeling confident about this after finishing.

-Mapped out some new subdivisions

-Marked turning circles

-Removed imported waterways which have been completely culverted at some point in time

You shouldn't use the ford=yes tag as a way to resolve highway-waterway conflicts unless there is actually a ford. Routers will refuse to use fords since it is too risky to let a driver try and drive through a waterway.

Don't abbreviate names. Something like "Tribune St" should be written out in full as Tribune Street. When you abbreviate, some people may assume the abbreviation means different things. I might think St means Strasze. It is best to leave it up to the renderer to make the decision to abbreviate based on the full name.

You shouldn't tag a road with both highway=residential and construction=residential. This makes it so that it is more difficult to determine whether the road is actually there, or is under construction. If a routing engine sees the construction=* tag, it may assume that the road is under construction, regardless of the highway=* tag.

Was this an import? Some of the buildings were absolutely horrible quality. For instance, osm.org/way/829508324 as well as the larger buildings nearby.

Hi. I went ahead and reverted your changeset. This road should not have been deleted. Instead it should have been demoted from highway=residential to highway=track.

If a road passes under a building that is a bridge, then the road is not a building passage. ex. osm.org/way/758091661

But why? The freeway passes above the convention center

Hi. I saw you made a bunch of edits add hotels/ motels to the map.

I couldn't help but notice you only used Bing Imagery, even in places where better imagery is available. As a result many of the buildings you traced are very inaccurate. If you are mapping somewhere new, you should always toggle through all available imagery to find the best option.

I also noticed that when merging hotel nodes with buildings, you neglected to add the appropriate building=* tag. For Instance, osm.org/way/955604121. This means that these buildings will not render correctly.

You switched the service=* tag from parking_aisle -> parking. parking_aisle is the accepted tag with 4.9 million uses whereas parking has only 2,000 uses.

You should have cycled through imagery to find which is the most recent. Esri and NAIP both show the house that you mapped. Also, I think it is safe to say that a house will be larger than a car and a bit more detailed than a square.

You shouldn't delete features unless they are no longer visible on most imagery. If something is recently demolished, marking it that way ensures other mappers don't remap it.

In this case, the I-74 bridge is still there. The access=no tag is most appropriate since it isn't open to traffic. The QC marathon is still going to use the bridge this year. If someone wanted to map out the course, they wouldn't be able to since you had deleted the bridge.

I went through the hassle of restoring the features you deleted.

Hi. I have some feedback on your recent edits.

First, your edit description should be useful for other people to understand what you did. I don't know what queen is supposed to mean.

Second, it looks like you are mapping buildings. Buildings are almost always constructed to be square. That is to say the corners all form 90 angles. You should use the square tool of iD to ensure that your shapes are squared.

Finally, your changeset says you are using ISU's tile server. But it only specifies that you are using the server, not which layer you are using. It would be useful in the source if you specified which specific layer you are using. There is obviously a big difference between using 2020 imagery and 1930 imagery.

I went ahead and reverted your changeset. The trail is there in real life, so it should not be removed from the map.

Instead, I marked the crossing with access=no to designate that it should not be used.

Sounds good. I am always a bit hesitant to use city published neighborhood maps since they are arbitrarily drawn and might be
different even on the same website. I think using place=neighbourhood nodes like you did was a good choice.

Where did you pull this information from?

105119325 about 4 years ago

Please consult the wiki page for golf courses. It should tell you everything you need to know about mapping them correctly. osm.wiki/Tag:leisure%3Dgolf_course

You marked a giant region as a shed which doesn't exist. What you marked as paths should be golf=hole and should have a ref tag, not a name tag.

Hi,

It looks like you mapped out The Oaks Golf Course, but it doesn't exist anymore.

I can see the golf course on Esri World Imagery Clarity, which is older imagery. The newest imagery, Esri World Imagery, shows that the golf course has been redeveloped to housing. Likewise, the county's cadastral map confirms that the course no longer exists.

I have a few comments about your edit.

First, what is wrong with the tag layer=-1? In this case it was used to denote the service road went underneath the roof?

By removing the tag, you introduced a conflict since the way and building are now on the same layer. It would have been best to tag the building with roof=yes, layer=1, and amenity=fuel.

You changed these roads to drive-throughs despite them very obviously not being drive-throughs. It is very clear from imagery that this is a gas station. The ways that go to the pumps are more accurate as just highway=service.

You also created points for the intersection of the roof and the roads. The roof doesn't physically intersect the roads, so they should not share any nodes.
