114893068 | about 3 years ago | I will happily bet you that at least 40% of parking areas and parking lots in OSM have no sign or designation on the ground whatsoever, yet people park there in real life for some reason :-) If you don't want the truck drivers to park there, you should tell them. Of course, they will ask you where they should park instead... |
114893068 | about 3 years ago | Hi! I had left a Fixme tag for verification of the possible parking area. I have now deleted it:
For the other parking area:
While its intended use may be different, we must map what is actually happening on the ground, which is that people are parking there. If TxDOT wants to not have people park there, they can post a No Parking sign.

118758879 | over 3 years ago | Thanks, I appreciate your response. In general, I would request you to not delete other users' contributions without verifying that the feature in question does not actually exist. Even if they are incomplete, they still represent reality and can be completed by the original user, or others who come along later. I have myself expanded and extended other users' basic creations. Thanks! |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | The tag cycleway=none has been wrongly removed in this commit from several city streets that have nothing to do with "Port A" schools. The purpose of adding this tag was to clearly identify which roads did NOT have a bike path, and which roads might or might not. You have eliminated all this work. |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | Wrongly removed the tag cycleway=none from Cotter Avenue. These have been explicitly surveyed to make it easier to plan bike routes. Please don't delete anything that you don't understand or haven't verified. |
119084822 | over 3 years ago | This changeset wrongly deleted node 4636413549, which represented a US Army Corps of Engineers survey mark embedded into one end of the concrete path. |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | Wrongly removed the tag cycleway=none from Trout Street |
119084822 | over 3 years ago | This changeset wrongly deleted informal path 1015982988. |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | Also wrongly deleted without any discussion: relation 13593435, which joins together the various parts of St. Joseph's Catholic Church compound. This took an hour of on-foot survey to create! |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | Also wrongly deleted: a parking aisle, way 1015280411 |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | This changeset also deleted a marked pedestrian crossing that exists. Way 1026246841. |
118758879 | over 3 years ago | Hi, this changeset says "Added Port A schools" but it is a large edit to several streets including removing tags from some of them. For example, you removed the tag of cycleway=none from Beach Street (way 833760990). Are you possibly using software that is removing tags and deleting information without your knowledge? |
109226886 | over 3 years ago | Here is one example of a way that was deleted. Way: 926301238 |
109226886 | over 3 years ago | This changeset deleted many features that I had added that actually exist on the ground.
Informal paths from the South Jetty, used daily.
And these are only the ones that I am aware of, or remember. Please attempt to restore the deleted features if possible. And please avoid deleting anything using just imagery. A "cleanup" should not result in deleting genuine information added by other users. Thank you. |
109226886 | over 3 years ago | This changeset seems to have deleted informal footpaths that exist and are actually in use daily. |
119084822 | over 3 years ago | Construction has been completed on the Port Aransas South Jetty and it is now a good bike path. Not sure why this was changed to foot path only. |
108175271 | about 4 years ago | I went ahead and changed the tag to unclassified for all the segments of Ophir Pass Rd. |
108175271 | about 4 years ago | Hi Christian, No objection from me to changing the highway tag. Someone had given the road the wrong name of Ophir Pass 4WD Trail, which is simply not reflected in any signpost or map. Kevin |
