I've been "made aware" of this commit and got to say I agree with DaveF - the access tags refer to the paths themselves and not the land they go over.

Looking at the Wiki it seems that *=designated is to limit a path to only these forms of transport, where as "access" is for whom is allowed to use a way, i.e. the access would override them (e.g. close during long-term construction works, or only usable by people heading to a destination).

highway=footway would be sufficient to limit use to only foot traffic.

AFAICT we should be tagging the landuse (or similar) with the access=private, but not doing so on the footpaths.

You do realise these were set because the road has been closed "for months" for well over a month and operating one way (as it is today)? As it transpires due to reopen much earlier than originally expected - this coming weekend.

Yup. Fixed.

Hi Nodestrawaymus

Sorry, misread the changeset!

Thanks for responding.

Hi Nodestrawaymus,

I notice that you've tagged the cycleway along the Leoforos Nissi with contradictory tags namely access=no and bicycle=designated - the highway=cycleway tag implies the latter. This means some sources of Open Street Map data are ignoring it and the main OSM rendering is showing it faded out.

Is this cycleway actually closed or did you perhaps mean motor_vehicle=no instead of access=no?

Hmm, checking my footage I can see this path is signed as shared use https://imgur.com/DA5LBXp From memory there is also wayfinding signage pointing down the path coming from the campus (I've not got access to this years footage on this PC). Will need to double check next time I pass.

It's one of those typical british bodges where it's more living_street than anything else (i.e. no footpaths, narrow, and a different surface) but is a through route. Will double check what Plane Road is like - traffic calming may be more appropriate for that junction

RE that specific note, no restrictions last time I was there, but there has been construction plant doing construction work on and off. Next time I'm down that way I;ll take a look The Acacia Way/Wellington Cres junction was temporarily closed last time.

Good question, don't recall seeing it on any of the tram stop posters since the new branches of NET were opened, and not seen it on any Broadmarsh area proposals in recent years, last I saw was in the initial proposals for the Nottingham College site but that was dropped. In the next few months the city should be publishing it's plans for the urban realm improvements around here (funded from Transforming Cities bid which is due to be accepted this week) - if there's no mention in that fair to say it's been abandoned.

Well spotted - should have been maxspeed on the longer one and removed from the shorter ones (obviously spelt wrong first time, then correctly when I referenced my GoPro footage to find the start of the lower limit). Fixed.

Hi Dave, Just to let you know I've not forgotten this, but obviously the survey of that area will be delayed somewhat due to the current situation. Still on my list of things to do next time I'm up that side of town.

I don't recall a path being there - looking at Bing vs ERSI it looks like the car park layout has changed and there may now be / used to be a path there. Will be surveying the area at some point when the works on Church Street are complete towards the end of next month. Will check the stop at the time.

Note this is the under construction rerouting of NCN6 through Basford relation - some exact details TBA (although works have commenced).

There are a few places where cycle routes go across tram platforms in the Nottingham area though - e.g. (the soon to be signed as N1) at Ruddington Lane (where there's only around 2 meters gap between the shelters and platform face) or even NCN route 6 at University Blvd although that has been mapped with a "path" behind the street furniture it is on the platform - based on the paving used for the platform.

Hi Kalyan,

You are indeed correct - however I can see someone has already made the change in the last hour.

South Sherwood Street was open North Bound only for a number of years IIRC or that short section was obviously overlooked when the road layout changed.

Using the Amazon Logistics traces (as stated in your profile) for this sort of this issue is certainly interesting and helpful.

Checked just now, offices for RVS Group on the ground floor. Upper floors are "2 bedroom apartments" coming soon at "74 Lower Parliament Street". RVS showroom is next door still, looks like the apartments may also be above that

Bit hard to read as the GoPro wasn't pointing at it last time I went past, but it looks like "Public Footpath" at Stoke Bardolf end. At the gate there is a "no horses" sign too. Can't see any signs at the other end, but they would have been behind me.

Seen that and updated based on observations and changes I've already done.
