Hmm, as best I recall (which is not 100%), there was a big sign at the bottom of the development (like the intersection of Tanglewood Loop and Woodcrest Lane) showing a map of the planned development, the lots available for sale, that sort of thing---that the developer had placed there. And it showed the planned street names.

When I am being a really good mapper, I do it like
addr:housenumber=555
addr:street=1400 North
addr:street:prefix=East
...but I am not always a good mapper.

Yeh, I know that's a sticky issue. To me, the "East" is part of the housenumber. Like, the street is "1400 North" and the particular building is at "555 East." But other people don't see it that way, and in other states they commonly see the "East" as part of the street name. Martijn told me once it was bad form to put alpha characters in addr:streetnumber, so I avoid putting "500 East" or "500E" in that field.

If you want real confusion, I just noticed that there is a Cypress Avenue in this cemetery and another Cypress Avenue in the cemetery over by the U. Every cemetery is required to have a Cypress Avenue?

However, I do not want to use access tags to limit the roads in the cemetery just for the sake of routing apps. The cemetery is open to the public, and I would be afraid that using the access tag in OSM would create more confusion about that fact. That would be worse than having two Main Streets (and two Park Streets).

Yes I agree, though I did not put "Main Street" in OSM; that name was already in, so whatever problems it causes have been problems for months or years. And the real solution, of course, is for the city not to give different streets the same name. I couldn't believe that when I saw it.
