Your guess is correct: we are supposed to put a bridge on the map where a bridge exists in reality (usually with layer=1) or, when the waterway crosses under the highway in a tunnel or culvert, tag the crossing section of the waterway as culvert=yes or tunnel=yes, usually combined with layer=-1).

OSM in Doha

Regarding documentation, there is a lot that could be done. A good starting point would be osm.wiki/Ar:Map_Features
My knowledge of Arabic is not good enough to work on the introductory text on the start of that page, so if you have time to spare, please help. And if you have only a little time, the rest of the map features can be translated in tiny bits at a time (and only a few of them have been done already). If you need help on the technical aspects of the wiki templates and translation mechanisms, please ask.

Kharkiv now has proper street names

There is a discussion at http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/tagging/2010-October/005171.html currently on rendering names on maps. I still suggest to add name:uk because that way renderers can selectively pick the Ukrainian name without needing to know what the local language is.

Kharkiv now has proper street names

Looks good in the data. You might consider to add the Ukrainian name in name:uk in addition to the name tag, so renderers for multilingual maps can select the name in Ukrainian without having to check if the specific location is inside Ukraine.

Revised www.openstreetmap.la

Hi,

thanks for the good work! You might like to add your page to the wiki list of OSM country domains at osm.wiki/Domain_names

OSM in Doha

I guess using Arabic language in the name tag might help a bit with getting locals interested in joining the project. Regardless of what language is used for the name tag, please always add name:en with the English name AND name:ar with the Arabic name, so maps can be rendered in both languages.
If you like, you are very welcome to help with the wiki pages in Arabic; there is a lot to be done here, e.g. the Map Features are only partially translated so far.

doing imaginary cities

I suggest not to create imaginary cities in the main OSM database; users here might find some unfriendly words like "vandalism" for it. What you can do is to setup your own osm database server and use the osm software to create imaginary cities in your own database; information on how to setup your own environment could be found on the wiki. In "our" osm database we try to build a map of what is really there, with the goal of having the best possible map eventually.

Hello

spam, how nice.
Dear Arifsha, what do you think the rel="nofollow" in the link to your website does? You have to look at the html source, as you certainly know. Easy answer: It does prevent search engines from following the link and therefore this link does NOT increase your page rank. Executive summary: Spamming this blog is just a waste of your and our time, and besides it's pretty annoying. So, go away, thanks.

O Brasil já tem cartão pre-pago visa lider power bonus

Dear Paolo,

in the context of this blog we use "spam" for an "Unsolicited Commercial Blog entry". I'm sure it's wonderful that your customers can get bonus for their visa payments and cheap mobile phone tariffs, but that has nothing at all to do with Open Streetmap and does not belong here, so I take the liberty to call it spam.
By the way: on looking closely you might have noticed that the links in blog entries have a rel="nofollow" attribute. This means that search engines don't follow these links and don't count them in your page rank. In other words: Spamming this blog is completely useless and just wastes your and our time.

Have a nice Day

No existe camino que guie al exito, solo caminantes con el valor para Alcanzarlo

I read just enough spanish to understand that your post talks about methods to reach desired (selling) results and has nothing at all to do with Open Streetmap. And it contains a link to your commercial website, which also has nothing to do with mapping. So why do you think it's not spam?

Sonderzeichen in JOSM verwenden
