The OSM data model does not have something like layers. Look for "Data Primitives" in the wiki to find more information on what the OSM data looks like.

Well, at least you, dear spammer, are not perfect. You are actually an example of the more stupid version of spammers, because otherwise you would have noticed that external links at this site are wrapped with a rel=nofollow tag and don't boost your page rank in any way, shape or form. So as a clever spammer you would not have bothered to drop your garbage here at all.

the answer to your question depends on what exactly you need. A printable map? A map file for your GPS? A part of the map database? A good starting point to look for answers would be osm.wiki/Using_OpenStreetMap

Well, it would be nice of users on all sides of the license debate to acknowledge that the people on the other side are just mappers like yourself and working on improving the OSM project.

I guess many volunteers would primarily be interested in working on their home state, so the state wiki pages would be the right place to coordinate efforts. I have tried this approach on the Montana Wiki page and its sub-pages. So far this has been only a limited success, though.

Ich habe mir eine Stichprobe der von Dir gelöschten Strassen angesehen, und die stammen von unterschiedlichen Bearbeitern und waren teilweise seit mehreren Jahren in der Datenbank. Das erscheint mir dann doch sehr unwahrscheinlich, dass das mehrere Jahre nicht auffällt.

Das ist langsam deutlich zu viel des Guten, und bewirkt vermutlich das Gegenteil des gewünschten Ergebnisses: Die Leser hier werden genervt und machen sich ggf. noch die Mühe rauszusuchen, bei wem sie in Zukunft garantiert nichts bestellen wollen. Und da Links hier mit einem rel="nofollow" versehen werden, wirken sie sich auf Suchmaschinenratings exakt gar nicht aus.

I have no idea of the legal implications, but what happened is pretty simple: Another user did split way 51756135, so it became two ways; one still existing as (now shorter) way 51756135, which still carries your edit in its history, and the new way 68344945, its history starting at that moment with the other user. In general, when an object is split, only that of the resulting objects that keeps the original id keeps the history and the other resulting objects start with a history that begins at the moment of the split.
