Hello to all,
I tried to work with JOSM. But without success :(
As far as I understand it, I have to download am map (e.g. by marking) and then edit the data.
When I select an area (by lat and lon or marking in the interactive map) I just receive a 403 fault.
What did I make wrong ?

You have to configure JOSM at first. Did you do?

Thank's for that hint. I tried it first without setting user/password.
I changed this.
Now JOSM behaviour changed a bit:
If I select from the map to download, I get three msg:
1. Contacting OSM server
2. Server returned HTTP response code 403 for URI:http:www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.4/map?bbox={4 params to long to copy)
3. Server returned HTTP response code 403 for URI:http:www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.4/map?bbox={4 params to long to copy)&page=0
If I try to set lat & lon direct or copy an openstreetmap URI, I get only two msgs:
1. Server returned HTTP response code 403 for URI:http:www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.4/map?bbox=0.0,0.0,0.0,0.0 (why 0 ?)
2. Server returned HTTP response code 403 for URI:http:www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.4/map?bbox=0.0,0.0,0.0,0.0&page=0
My IP at the moment is 88.67.214.194
Is there any more to change / configure in JOSM ?

Hi, unfortunataly I have only a german link:
osm.wiki/index.php/JosmFuerEinsteiger
Try it. Perhaps this site is also available in Englisch. Search in Google for "JOSM step by step".
Best regards

The problem is that you're trying to use a prehistoric version of JOSM that is still trying to use API 0.4 which was dropped the best part of a year ago. Get a current version that uses API 0.5 and you'll be fine.

Thanks,
that was the solution.
I loaded the last stable version of JOSM and was not aware that this is a prehistoric one.
Now I tried the latest one and the download works well :)
