I have drove on this road its a tidal causeway. causeway=yes, access=tidal, lit=no highway=unclassified, but highway=track + tracktype=grade1 maybe be the best way to tag the road type.

Alone in the desert?!?

I have done a few edits over the years, its a much better map than when I first looked at the area, will be back again in next year or so I hope.

Automatic POI->Building?

dont like this, the POI is that, a point not always the full building, we should try to put the tag on the entrance node to the building that the POI belongs to, as buildings can have multiple POI and can span more than one street/road, and also lets tag such as wheelchair=yes, access=yes/no be used. I know its easy just to dump all the address tags of POI in the building outline , but I think the entrance node way works better.

bruce that is the exact way I have been doing things, check shawhead coatbridge, I also use the wheelchair access tag too on the entrance if I know it, also access=private for houses
